“Great Winter Fun”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 31, 2011

This is a great winter experince . We stayed at the ranch one night and did the 3-Day Yellowstone snowmobile tour . The entire staff was friendly and went out of there way to see that we were taken care of.

The 3-day Yellowstone snowmobile tour covered the entire park and gave us a chance to see all of Yellowstone in the winter.

Just cant say enough about the Ranch ,the Staff and our Guide Aaron ,It was a great trip

We honeymooned here with our two children (6 & 9). We took the all inclusive package which means you don't need to pay extra for the rodeo show, white water rafting, fishing lessons etc.
You can ride every day except sunday with two hours treks each morning and afternoon. You can also take the half day or full day rides when they're on offer. The treks take you through forests, up hills, through streams to see some truly amazing scenery!
The food is good and well prepared. The staff are very friendly and welcoming.
The individual lodges are clean and warm with comfortable beds.
Besides the riding and excursions you are pretty much expected to entertain yourselves, there are games and plenty of walks the staff will direct you too.
My two children loved the horse riding and running around the grounds with they're new friends.
The horses are so well behaved (not like naughty riding school ponies), they are as well trained as the staff. The horses only walk with the occasional trot to keep up and that is all they are allowed to do so don't expect to be allowed to gallop up the hill. There is however an arena, where, with permission you may be able to ride how you like, my daughter was able to try bare back and canter on her horse 'shivers'.
There is a river very close by so you need to keep an eye on small children however I would certainly recommend this kind of holiday for anyone with children as long as they are old enough to ride (6) otherwise you and them might get bored.

Turpin Meadow Ranch is sitting in the middle of some of the most beautiful country in the world. The setting was fabulous. The cabins rustic but clean, warm and comfortable. The staff went out of their way to make us comfortable and were super with our 11 year old daughter. The food was "yummy" and portions were way too large!!! We snowmobiled for three days - one day with a guide into Yellowstone and couldn't have had a more positive experience. it was wonderful to walk outside our cabin, climb on the snowmobile and be on the CD in a matter of minutes. Special thanks to staff: Luke, Lorna, Rick, Emily, Aaron, Jen, Jenny and all of the other names that we can't remember!!

We stayed at the Turpin Meadow Ranch (http://www.turpinmeadowranch.com/) between 26 and 31 December 2009. During that time we went on the three day snowmobile trip through Yellowstone National Park provided by Yellowstone Snowmobile Tours (http://www.snowmobileyellowstone.com/).

We stayed at the ranch in a nice bungalow cabin that was clean and spacious, with comfortable beds. Our meals were good home-style cooking in an impressive log building which is decorated in a ranch décor. The ranch has a scenic setting with an impressive view of the Tetons in the distance.

The ranch has very nice employees who made our stay so special.

Snowshoes and cross-country skis are available at the ranch so we could easily get out in the area surrounding the ranch to see the countryside and the wildlife.

The three day snowmobile trip through Yellowstone National Park was thoroughly enjoyable and is highly recommended if you want to see Yellowstone without the crowds. Because it was winter, the animals were easier to view compared to the summer.

There are some videos of our stay available at http://travelogues.x10hosting.com/

In summary, we thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas stay at the ranch and the snowmobile trip through Yellowstone.

Thomas

For years we have talked about visiting a dude ranch in the Jackson Hole area while in route to our annual summer vacation in Montana and this past summer we finally accomplished that goal. After reviewing what seemed like an unending list of possible locations we decided to settle on Turpin Meadow based on the location (including its reasonable proximity to town), history, facilities (traditional Rocky Mountain setting that you would envision), flexibility (the staff, management, and ownership are more than willing to tailor a program that meets the needs of each guest), and quality of experience. The ranch was clean, appropriately rustic (but not too much), the food was over the top, and the setting was stunning. What made our stay was the staff. We happened to visit in-between two busy weeks but while we were there we had the staff and ranch nearly to ourselves. Lots of one-on-one time with the staff , leadership, and even the owner and his wife. How often do you get that chance? All of which reinforced the unique quality of this family friendly place. If you are looking for a place to go with your family (youth through college age) that can help bring you all together, this is the place. It personifies good, clean fun and an outstanding time here out west. We will be back.

Spent a week at TMR with my wife and our 3 year old son. I echo all the positive comments others have left. Super staff, great riding, really yummy and fresh "ranch style" cooking, truly beautiful surroundings with the Tetons always in the background, very comfortable and functional but not high luxury facilities with loads of ranch charm. This vacation was a great value as well.

Two specific comments:

1. TMR was the ONLY dude ranch we found that would accept and babysit a young child after mid-September. The manager himself has young children and his wife took care of our son along with her own while my wife and I went for long rides or on Yellowstone daytrips. This was a wonderful, homelike experience and our son is still asking after his new buddies. I just can't say enough nice things about the people or the experience.

2. A different reviewer on this site talks about being made uncomfortable by TMR having a very strong / potentially in-your-face Christian bent. As a non-practicing and politically liberal family we were a bit apprehensive about this. In our experience however this was a complete non-issue. Yes there are some devout Christians among the staff and leadership but they did not impose their beliefs and went out of their way to respect guests' privacy too. A Gideon's bible by the bedside is about all we saw. Sunday is a logical rest day for a staff that works hard 6 days a week. As for the lack of liquor license: we brought wine and felt great enjoying a glass in the dining room or out on the lodge porch at sunset. So don't let that one review keep you away!

I booked a long weekend recently with my college age son who met me in Denver Airport and we flew on together to jackson. We wanted to stay out in the countryside and Turpin Meadow ranch was everything and more than we expected. The scenery with the Tetons as a backdroop was spectacular. You can not take a bad photo there. The staff was incredibly attentive and the meals were gourmet. One staff member, Andrea, doubled as our guide on a snowmobile trip thru Yellowstone which I highly recommend. She went out of her way to help us find the bison we wanted to photograph in the snow and she exemplified the other staff members' concern to ensure we had a great time. The cabins are warm and well appointed. Dennis and his wife manage the ranch and do a wonderful job. Highly recommend a stay here. we want to go back when the Aspen trees turn color in the Fall Jim M
