We came to Wyoming hoping to see wildlife, we just weren’t expecting to see it in our room…
First off… The rooms are not cabins – they are motel rooms with log cabin style construction. We had expected a cabin – we were even provided with directions to our “cabin” (that is what she called it when we checked in – “cabin”) by the receptionist at the “resort”.
That is forgivable – we were a bit mislead by the description – and by the price. But why dwell on the negative – we there for two nights to enjoy Wyoming and the Tetons…
The room was ok, a bit on the dated side, but roomy, quaint, and even charming, keeping with the cabin feel they were trying to maintain. I actually liked it and the nice front lawn where we could exercise our dog after a long day in the car. However, when we got in to bed that first night, we were surprised by the tattered condition of the blankets. I am not a picky person, but I have never seen blankets in that condition in a hotel – not even when I’ve stayed at $60 per night places.
But that alone was also forgivable – we just overpaid, but why dwell on the negative, right? No sense in complaining..

It was the morning after our first night, I got up fairly early, showered and got ready for our day of exploring the National Park and Jackson. I was relaxing on the bed with my dog, my wife was in the bathroom getting ready when out of the corner of my eye, I saw something move over by the desk. I looked and there before me, standing on his hind legs, looking at me, was a sizable mouse. I didn’t “think” I saw a mouse, I saw one. I told my wife – “there’s a mouse in the room”. She didn’t believe me – thought I was joking. Until it scurried across the floor in front of her. She screamed and was hesitant to walk back in the room from the bathroom. We decided at that moment we could not stay in this room another night. I went to the front desk to inform them that there was a mouse in our room and for that reason we did not feel comfortable staying another night and requested our money back for the night we would not be staying. I was rudely and unapologetically told that they had a 48hr cancellation policy and that they would not refund my money. I argued, asked to speak to a manager. I was told that it was...More
