Okay, expectations are an upset waiting to happen. I had always envisioned Laramie as a cool city that embodied the West, yet the home of Wyoming's university of any size. Got there at 8:30, the downtown area. The only place open was this relic of a restaurant. I thought it was a converted failed franchise like Sambo's or something but it was a distant franchise based in Wyoming. That is why the menu refers to all this Oregon geography jargon . I went with the Alaskan wild sockeye. Veggies sucked, the rice had some sweetener and the salmon was small and uninspired. The service was great almost sad as they showed a lot of effort but the dye was set and the cook either does not care or needs training. And if you are going to be bad to mediocre -- increase the portions or side dishes like frozen veggies and rice that costs nothing. My travel partner got a salad of some sort that was equally uninspired. As I said the manager and waitress were super friendly and competent--they deserve better.
More of a comment on a surprisingly uninteresting town in decay. The next morning we looked for a place to have breakfast FOR A HALF HOUR. Saw a trendy coffee shop mimicking Starbucks that was rocking. We wanted real food, when we asked for such a place the real nice police officer sAID "sHARI'S. Time to go hungry to Medicine Bow the next town 60 miles way.
