Overall, I was disappointed in The Alpine Inn, not because of what they did, but because of the lack and feel of a bed and breakfast. Previous experiences at a bed and breakfast were quaint, friendly, and comfortable. I like the idea of sharing a table with strangers and having morning coffee. You won't get that at The Alpine Inn. It's a small hotel - not a bed and breakfast.

Pros: The house is beautiful, nice reading area, rooms and bed were comfortable, and of course, the breakfast is outstanding!!

Cons: Felt like I was in a small hotel, could hear your neighbors and people walking the halls, ate breakfast at little tables by yourself with a waitress serving you, the check in staff wasn't extremely friendly, missed the feel of a traditional B&B

Comments based on an Alpine House Original room. Comments updated from 2007 review.

Location
Perfect in-town location. Hotel is in a quiet side street only a few minutes walk from central Jackson shops, restaurants etc. The bus service to the Teton Village ski area and the free in-town shuttle both stop around the corner.

Hotel
Light, airy and well presented throughout. It has a small garden and verandah plus cozy indoor sitting areas in the lobby and library. Free internet access. Great efforts being made to recycle, use environment friendly cleaning materials etc.

Rooms
Warm and comfortable. Imaginative furnishing and decor. A full size bath would have been nice but hardly essential. Bathrobes are a nice touch as are the locally-sourced soaps and shampoos.
Views are variable as you'd expect from an urban location. If you draw a room at the back overlooking the carpark just look beyond to the hillside behind the town - you might be lucky enough to see mule deer passing by.

Breakfast etc.
Excellent cold buffet plus choice of two hot items per day. Loved the afternoon homemade cookies plus tea/coffee on tap. Small bar open 4-8.

Staff
Consistently friendly and helpful

Points to watch out for
Noise
Some rooms overlook a small carpark. Minor clattering from rubbish/recycling collections, otherwise OK but might be busier in summer?
Rooms immediately overlooking the lobby do catch early morning noise from breakfast preparation from around 6.00

Late checkins
Emergency cover only at the hotel from 8.00 so if you are arriving late evening do let them know so they can make arrangements

Overall
A really enjoyable place to stay

What a fabulous experience. The Alpine House is cute, quaint, and immaculate. The breakfasts are amazing. The staff will make you feel more like a friend than a guest. Erica, the Goddess of Jackson Hole Knowledge, couldn’t have been nicer, what a gem!
If you’re not an early riser or a very heavy sleeper, do not reserve an original room as they are over the kitchen and breakfast area, and Jefferson starts whipping up your fabulous breakfast VERY early--- the smell of wafting bacon and baked goods does somehow soften the sound of banging pots.
A Great Value!

We just got back from our week long ski trip in Jackson, Hole. We stayed in the Kitchenette Unit at THE ALPINE HOUSE from December 21-28th. What an awesome experience. The room was perfect for myself, my wife, and 8 year old daughter. It has a king sized bed in one room, and a pull out sleeper in the other.
The kitchen was great to cook lunch or dinner in, and has a full sized refrigerator to put any leftovers for when you go out.
The Breakfast was absolutely delicious each morning. You have the choice of two main entrees like eggs benedict, wafflles, pancakes, but made in ways that entice creativity. Like cinanmon apple waffles with huckleberry butter. There is a spread of fruit, pastries, granola, and toast set out as well everyday. Coffee, tea are available all day and cookies and truffles are set out in afternoon.
The Alpine House is right next to the Start bus stop if you need transportation to the Jackson Hole slopes. It is a 3 minute walk to anywhere downtown Jackson for shopping and restaraunts.
The library is nice and cozy and great to just relax the day away. There is a computer with internet access and wi-fi if you have a laptop. There is also a nice Finnish Sauna and Jacquzzi.
A great B&B and we wil be back to visit.

We loved our stay at the Alpine House. We were there for a week-long ski vacation. The breakfasts were amazing, the staff was super -friendly and we had a great time. The b&b is right near the bus to the mountain and its right in town so you can walk to bars and restaurants after a long day on the hill. We also loved relaxing in front of the fireplace and soaking the hot tub.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Alpine Lodge and found it to be adequate at best. We booked a grand king room and found it neither grand in style nor king in size. The rooms are decorated in a very slap-dash manor and offer little charm or style. It appears most of the furnishings and pictures in the rooms were bought from random garage sales. Some of the other small things that were less than luxurious were the robes and towels. Both were completely worn out and seemed to have past their life expectancy many years ago. This we found to be indicative of the entire lodge, a minimal effort is made to be able to justify the way they advertise themselves. Do not be mislead by the photos on their web site, the rooms are tiny and what they consider to be a fireplace and balcony are in reality a gas heater and a few 2x4s nailed outside the exterior door. Once we got there they explained that it is what they call a "leaning" balcony. The balcony by the way has a breathtaking view of the business building next door and the alley. Most of these concerns are what some would consider to be trivial, but we felt that this property did not deliver on the level of accomodation, quality and style that was represented.

The common areas were nice and the people working there were friendly and helpful, but do not expect any sort of concierge or room service. If you pack a lot anticipate having to drag your bags up and down the stairs. If you needed anything after 9:00 PM you are on you own. The entire staff leaves the facility at night.

Overall it was a decent place to sleep and shower that is close to downtown, but it was lacking anything beyond that. For the money there were much better alternatives that offered the same convenience but much more amenity, luxury and service.

This was a very nice Bed & Breakfast. Room was very cozy, the staff was there for you at all times and the breakfast every morning was fantastic and made my a real Chef. There was a cozy library, a jacuzzi tub, nice porch outdoors, and after the long day of traveling you could have tea, coffee, cookies or schedule a nice massage. We loved the fact that we were right in town and walked to all the shops and restaurants. We stayed four days and would definetely recommend it to friends and family. Very relaxing.
