“A place tasteless people think is "classy."”
Reviewed October 18, 2012

The Wort is a classic tasteless tourist trap. First, who would build in the Tudor style in the American West? The food is the same deep-fried brown lumps that you can get anywhere in America, so if that's your thing, you'll like it. Take a look at all those silver dollars glued into the bar, then leave.

It is our intention to offer an excellent selection of well-prepared classic bar fare with a regional twist—buffalo and elk burgers, elk gyros, Snake River Farms natural beef. We apologize for not meeting expectations and we hope you will give us another try.

There was nothing much in Jackson in 1941 when The Wort brothers built their hotel, quarrying the native salmon-colored sandstone by hand and ferrying it over Slide Lake in their boat. They chose for their hotel what they thought was an elegant style that fit into the valley gracefully and complemented the young community. The building of The Wort Hotel is a tale that many people find fascinating (as is the effort involved in inlaying of the 2,032 solid silver dollars into the serpentine bar top by German carpenters and the fact that they have not come loose or been pried out in 62 years).

We hope you will take the time to give The Wort Hotel another look, and that you will discover its beauty, and value of its original art and storied history.

“Soooo good!”
Reviewed October 18, 2012

I finally understand what it means to have a piece of steak that tastes so good you need nothing on it. I had the Mesquite Grilled Bone-In Ribeye - Dry aged angus beef with a horseradish compound butter, fried tobacco onion garnish and roasted Yukon Gold potatoes. With the first taste my tastebuds threw a party! The cut wasn't very thick but it wasn't as fatty as ribeyes tend to be. My husband had the Rosemary Garlic Rubbed Buffalo Tournedos - Grilled with a balsamic glace, whipped Yukon Gold Potatoes, which made his eyes roll back in his head. We just returned from a 3 week trip across Montana and Wyomming. This was the best meal we had, which just so happened to fall on my husband's birthday...FANTASTIC. Don't miss it and come as you are.

“The Best!”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

We enjoyed a very delicious and peaceful dinner at the Silver Dollar Grille. I really enjoyed the change in the normal raucous activity that pervades most restaurants. Our waitress was exceptionally good. The food was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was tremendous. This is an exceptional restaurant and we highly recommend having at least one dinner here while you are in Jackson Hole. If we had found this restaurant earlier I would have opted for dinner here every night!! On our next visit to Jackson Hole this will be where we eat dinner every night. The photo is a non-flash using only the available incandescent light. Thank you Sarah, you are the best!

“Better than most”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

Service was excellent, and they served one of the best ribeye steaks I have ever eaten. The soup was superior and the waitress could not have been more cooperative. They even gave one of our group a free dessert for their just getting back from Afganistan.
