“Sweetwater Restaurant”
Reviewed June 16, 2008

We decided on lunch at Sweetwater after our long morning flight. We were seated right away during the post Sunday Church crowd time. The menu had many interesting sounding salads and sandwhiches. We chose the chicken pecan cranberry salad stuffed in avocados. There was a bit of a wait but we enjoyed the Jackson Hole Huckleberry sodas free of charge for having to wait. The salad was attractive and plenty large. The only thing is that the chicken tasted rather like tuna and there were no pecans in the salad. We still enjoyed it. The desserts were tempting but we declined. We saw a family enjoying a smores dessert complete with a burner for toasting marshmallows. I would probably go back for lunch.

“dinner was disappointing”
Reviewed August 14, 2007

Based on the reviews here, we chose Sweetwater for our first dinner in Jackson. We were not impressed. The crab cake appetizer really did taste like the crab cakes were out of a box from Costco (frozen food aisle). The vegetables tasted like they were also frozen and defrosted from a bag. The biggest disappointment, though, were the elk loin medallions. They were like thin hamburger patties, and very greasy. The mashed potatoes were drenched in butter. My husband thought his trout was ok, but that was the highlight. Subsequent to our visit, some locals indicated that Sweetwater really is great for lunch - but confirmed that it's pretty terrible for dinner. Don't know if it's true or not, but one local seemed to think that there were different chefs for lunch and dinner. We weren't brave enough to return for lunch, so we can't validate this claim. In any event, the patio was nice, and there were lots of families enjoying their s'mores desserts. However, I truly could not imagine how this restaurant could be rated so highly on tripadvisor.

“Great service and food...would definitely eat here again.”
Reviewed July 15, 2007

I ate here in the summer and all the seating was on the back deck. Luckily, the weather was perfect. Mains were about $20-25. Margaritas were only served on the rocks. Great service and food. I would definitely eat here again.
