Description: Rich in history, Jackson Hole’s first chuck wagon adventure, the Bar T-5 began in 1974 by giving people a chance to step back and experience a time gone by, a time when they traveled by horse drawn covered wagons. Now you can join us at the Bar T-5 and make your own Western History. Climb aboard a horse drawn covered wagon just as they did in the early days of Jackson Hole for an adventure unlike any other. You’ll experience an evening filled with great Western Hospitality.Traveling along a clear mountain stream, you’ll follow a winding trail into the tall timber of the Bridger-Teton National Forest to a camp in the heart of the canyon. Watch out there may be surprises along the way, after all this is the West! Arriving at camp the wagons are circled and the aroma of a Cowboy style Dutch oven dinner greets you. Enjoy our home cooked BBQ Chicken, Roast Beef in Gravy, our famous Bar T 5 Beans and more. After dinner you can sit back and relax to the sounds of music and laughter as our cowboys take the stage. Enjoy the harmony of The Bar T 5 Band bringing your favorite cowboy songs to life! With Guitars, Fiddles and Fun for all, you’ll find yourself joining in throughout the night. The evening ends as the wagons head home from a place and time you’ll never forget.....The Bar T-5 Covered Wagon Cookout & Show. We are close by, located just 1 ½ miles SE of downtown Jackson. The wagons are ready to roll evenings, Monday through Saturday, mid-May through the end of September. The evening lasts about 3 hours. At camp you are under a covered pavilion that is heated if necessary. Reservations are requested. To find out more about how to join us and make your own Western History please give us a call.

My husband & I attended the Bar-T-5 Cookout in June after reading recommendations on the Tripadvisor webiste. We have to say that we found the experience to be a little lacking. Maybe it all started when we were told to be at the gathering site at least 1/2 hour before the wagons leave for the eating area. We arrived promptly at the appointed time only to have to wait more than an HOUR before leaving, having to listen to a cute, but
L-O-N-G, drawn-out story beforehand about the family who started the Bar-T-5 (we're assuming the previous show had not yet ended so they were trying to delay heading out to the campsite). Yes, it was a pleasant ride out to the cookout area in the covered wagons (in spite of a less than entertaining "driver" -- we feel he tried a bit too hard to be funny!), the food was good, but nothing special, and fortunately the entertainment was better. But overall, the entire experience was pretty much a letdown. Not sure exactly what we were expecting, but everything seemed a bit "tired". Maybe we're used to "Disney" quality extravaganzas. Although we didn't expect or even want that, we did anticipate more. Overall, it was a nice evening but I wouldn't go beyond that. I have a feeling kids would enjoy it more.

Yes -- it's sort of hokey if you're a city slicker and don't have children with you -- but our evening at the Bar T-5 Cookout turned out to be an enjoyable time for most of our group. We were in Jackson for two nights as part of a 13-night Globus bus tour from Rapid City to Las Vegas, and with Jackson as the halfway point, Globus booked our group for this western-style dinner show -- in part because we were staying in town for another day and had some free time to see Jackson the next day.

From the outset, the folks at the Bar T-5 know how to show you a good time. While waiting for our ride up to the dinner and show site about a mile or so into the woods from the headquarters location at the edge of Jackson, the staff sits you down and gives you a brief history of Jackson. Then they load you into a conastoga wagon train and your driver and set of Belgian horses take you on about a 20-minute ride up to the dinner and show site. On the way you're treated to a little pre-show, all in fun (I won't spoil the surprise). The drivers tell you a little about the horses and about themselves and it's very all very laid back.

The BBQ dinner is served mostly buffet style, but you get your food quickly, there's plenty of it and it really pretty good. Plenty of refills on ice water and lemonade, as well. Then the stage is lit up and there's about a 1-hour show consisting of some very hokey comedy and a pretty good quartet of musicians and singers who present familiar western style music. The audience gets pretty involved in a couple of the numbers as well as some preliminary low-brow comedy. At the end, the wagons deliver you back to the ranch.

All in all, a very enjoyable evening western style!

Terrific trip up the mountain in a covered wagon and great food at the end of the trail. Gotta watch out for the pesky indians though.

Great show, great service, fantastic part of our trip. Highly recommend! The food was above average but the show and service made up for any shortcomings in the food.
