“Tried and True”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 22, 2014 via mobile

This place was suggested my both locals and online and they were certainly correct. We had the lobster fritters for an appetiser and they were very good. The real winner for us was the elk tenderloin. It was very tender and cooked perfectly. We also had the mud pie desert and it was worth all the praise we had heard about it. Great place for a nice meal in Jackson, we will be back soon.

Kind of pricey, make reservations but food was worth it. We had elk tenderloin which would melt in your mouth.

“Large portions, nice ambience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 16, 2014

I thought this place might be a bit "stuffier" that it was. It was small, warm and cozy. The food was delicious and the portions were large. We had the elk, scallops and risotto. All came with a nice salad. The house dressing was very tasty.

“Outstanding Cuisine moderately priced”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 13, 2014

The menu at the Blue Lion is outstanding. The regular options are comprehensive and the specials of the day are equally comprehensive. We started with a Special Indian (curry) coconut soup that was outstanding and a Caesar salad that was very good. My wife chose the Rack of Lamb that the restaurant is famous for and it didn't disappoint. I had the Elk Medallions and Rainbow trout combo. The Elk was superb and the trout delicate. However, I do not recommend this combination as the Elk and its sauce overwhelms the trout. Servings are large. For dessert we chose the Raspberries in Russian Cream and the Coconut & Peach Torte. Both were excellent.
The wine list is reasonable and had a good choice but not outstanding. To its credit prices were moderate. We had a bottle of Greg Norman Sparking wine at $43.
Service was courteous, prompt, knowledgeable and non-pretentious.
The Blue Lion has a 20% off policy if you are seated before 6:00pm which we took advantage of. The total after discount with tax and tip was $144 which is a bargain for a dinner of this caliber anywhere.
The only small criticism I could make is that the atmosphere was homey. This could be a plus to some. The Blue Lion is added to my list of Jackson hole top restaurants along with the Couloir, the Alpenrose and Stieglers.

“Very intimate dining; great food.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 7, 2014

This restaurant is located in a large home. This meat tables were fairly cozy; but comfortable. They had a guitarist playing during in dinner which was an elegant touch. The food and service was great also. They specialize in lamb, which I did not get. I had chicken marsala which was very good. The wine list also had some great affordable choices, which was a pleasant surprise.
