“Not what we expected.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 1, 2008

We stayed at the Ranch Inn two nights in September 2008. When I checked the reviews on TripAdvisor most seemed to be good, stating that it was clean and affordable. We were traveling with another couple so we booked two luxury rooms (luxury rooms are bigger and have a refriderator and microwave). When we arrived we were a little worried because the hotel looked a bit dated.

These rooms are anything but luxury! The rooms were big but were VERY dated. Our room was clean but our traveling companions room, which was right next door, had issues. The carpet in their room was filthy and the furniture was really worn and dingy. The blankets on the beds were stained and full of cigarette burns. I called the desk and asked for another blanket, the man at the desk brought me a brand new blanket right away. He stated that the blanket on the bed was probably just "stained". I told him that even if it was a "stain" that the blanket was just not suitable to be put back on the bed in that condition, he agreed.

Noise was a factor here as well. We were on the first floor and could hear the floor creek and crack everytime someone walked across the room above us. And both mornings we were awaken by the garbage truck at 6am!!!!

The breakfast was nothing spectacular, and the girl taking care of it didn't even wipe off the counters when she refilled the items. AND no one emptied the garbage, even though it was overflowing both mornings we were there.

This hotel is not worth the money we paid for it.

Loved our stay at the Ranch Inn.....would recommend the Tower Rooms.......large......clean, comfortable......great staff.....balcony which faced the ski slopes. Walking distance to downtown shopping. One of our favorite places during a 2 week road trip....stayed here 2 nights and wished we had more.

Staying in Jackson is all about location. Unless you want to pony up for the expensive luxury hotels, you're likely just looking for a good place to sleep, spending your days wandering around town or driving up to the Tetons.

The Ranch Inn is inexpensive, clean, quiet, and offers free wireless internet. It's also exceptionally central, just one block off Town Square. As one who'd rather spend their vacation dollars on activities, good meals, and local arts, this hotel was perfect.

Jackson is a very expensive town to stay in so I chose The Ranch Inn because of the middling-price range. The location was good, parking was free, room had fridge & microwave. Nice view from balcony. Those are the good things about this low-budget place.

Unfortunately, the bad things out-weighed the good. I would say 1/2 the staff members were too crabby to communicate with. The free breakfast was barely worth walking down stairs for. No pool. Worst, was our last evening after returning from a show, we found standing water in the bathroom & soaked carpet thru half the room. Of course any luggage on the floor was water-damaged, as were our things left on the bathroom sink counter.

All we can do is guess that the room upstairs had left their water running or had plugged the drains because it was dirty, gross water that was coming up out of our sink drains and flowing onto all the floor & onto our stuff! The evening staff tried to help and made a good but fruitless effort. We were told that the hotel handyman wouldn't start work till 8:00, despite this emergency. The hotel was full so we couldn't get another room for that night. Luckily the tub & toilet were working, but we couldn't use the sinks at all, (wouldn't drain).

Next morning we were told that there were no plumbers in Jackson. Probably were, but the hotel couldn't afford to call one. We had to beg to get them to discount the price of that night's stay, even though we think it should have been free for us that night due to the mess this created for us and our inability to use sinks.

I guess this disaster could have happened at any hotel but I think it should have been handled better by the staff. And we certainely should have not had to pay for that soggy night's stay!

  • Liked — Location close to shops in town.
  • Disliked — No business center for patrons, some surly, uncaring staff members, poorly handled plumbing crisis.

We stayed 2 nights in a Luxury room (one above basic level). The room was clean and the staff was very helpful and kind. The breakfast was "continental" and did not include any warm dish, and the counter and room where the breakfast was served were dirty. There were 4 parties of 2-3 people having breakfast and not enough tables.

Our Luxury room had a clogged bathtub which was fixed promptly after we reported it. Also, the only sink in the room was in the bedroom rather than bathroom. We would expect more from a luxury room.

The location in Jackson is great but we thought that objectively the price was too high for the services provided.

We were going to be in Jackson for the Dierks Bentley Concert that ended up being cancelled a week prior to our arrival date.

The Ranch Inn is a cute little motel located right in town about 2 blocks from the town's square. Very convenient to many stores and restaurants. The staff was very friendly/helpful...they also had a nice continental breakfast set up. The rooms were very clean...and for the ladies instead of the generic soaps/shampoo's they supply you with bath and body works stuff!

The only downside to booking a room with this place was that they require you cancel your reservations a whole week prior to your check in date. If something came up and you couldn't make make your trip at the last minute you lose money!

We stayed here only one night. We were there just before the peak season, so it wasn't very full. We were upgraded to a tower room. Big room with nice amenities and updated decor. A view of Snow King Mountain with a balcony. Front desk was friendly, small breakfast in the morning, and great location. Compared to other similarly priced hotels in the area, this is above the rest.
