We had friends come from Scotland and we wanted to give them an experience they would remember always. We really wanted to do the Old Faithful ride which we did and it was great. They provide coats, bibs, gloves, helmets (i still wore a headband for my ears under the helmet) and boots, The machines had heated seats and heated hand warmers. Bring your own neck gator or your own balaclava - they make a big difference. Our guide Tony knew everything about everything. He grew up and lives in the area and had a wealth of information which was fun. The Teton's were spectacular and Old Faithful came through on time. We had a great lunch in a WARM yurt right by Old Faithful that helped break up the day.
Since we had driven quite a ways to get to Jackson we decided to do a second day - the ride to Robinson's Cabin. While it was a shorter ride and vastly different from the day before it was probably my favorite. We saw wildlife on our way there but the cabin was "just like a mountain man cabin in the movies." Mr. Robinson moved in July of 1952 and nothing has changed. The calendars have piled up on the wall over the years as he still uses the cabin because he runs his cattle up there in the summer. It is just amazing and the vistas from his "outhouse" are fabulous. The door to the outhouse doesn't shut very well but that just makes it easier to use the binoculars that are hanging just inside the outhouse door.
Everyone at Old Faithful Snowmobile Tours is so nice, helpful and accommodating. They feed you breakfast and lunch was a huge sandwich, hot drinks, hot homemade soup, chips, fruit, and cookies. We had a FABULOUS time. We are considering doing the 3 or 4 day trip though Yellowstone in the future but only with them!
