“Rawhide very convienient for everything”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 26, 2009

Jackson is a very expensive place to stay, and as we were on holiday for five weeks I tried to find the best deals possible. We paid a total of $546 at Rawhide for four nights which was the best I could find at the time of booking ( in June ) I was pleasantly surprised. Our room was on the upper section, and was a good size, nicely furnished, with a big flat screen TV, two large beds, plus a usefull fridge. It was all very clean and tidy and nice toiletries provided.
The location was just the best as it is within walking distance of the town sq, visitor centre, shops and resteraunts, yet, being off the main highway, it was quiet at night and you park right outside in hotel parking lot. The hotel also provides a gas BBQ for you to cook your own dinner if you want. A short drive out of town, past the Virginian, Mc Donalds and Pizza Hut there is an Albertsons, where you can buy everything for a BBQ plus liquor store, as in Utah one cannot buy anything other than beer in the supermarket, and we like a glas of wine.
I agree with others, that the website is not great, and I had to phone from England to make the booking. Apart from this I was delighted with the Rawhide, and would certaily re book there when visiting Jackson again.

I was pleasantly surprised by the Rawhide Motel. I wasn't quite sure what to expect because reviews were limited and their website isn't the greatest. We were greeted promptly with our room keys and reservation form. Overall, no frills, friendly service, clean, easy walking distance to the square, restaurants, with shops all around the motel....and a wine bar next door! Room 23 is a corner room that has a little table and chairs out front. Not exactly a patio but a nice place to congregate when you're waiting for the rest of your travel buddies to get ready. In general, expect lots of motorcycle sounds, but this is pretty much true throughout the area and keep your expectations in the "motel" state of mind.

Great location - walking distance to shops, restaurants, and events. Nice staff! The bed was uncomfortable - you could feel the springs. But the rest was great. With our lower budget - we definitely could have done a lot worse.

The Rawhide Motel is a great location for exploring Jackson and the surrounding areas. The room was very clean, check-in/out was simple and the room was a good size. There was a small refrigerator and sitting area in the room. The only issue was the height of the shower head in the bathroom - everything else was great!

We've stopped in Lusk three times for the night and this was our first try at the Rawhide Motel.

Nothing fancy for sure, but we enjoyed the hospitality of the staff, the clean room and simple departure in the morning.

We'll stay there again should we have the opportunity and have no qualms about recommending it to you.

we just returned from our Wyoming vacation.. our last night before flying home from Jackson Hole we stayed at the Rawhide Motel. It was a convient location and the price was good for Jackson. $80 for two adults. No continental breakfast, but they did provide coffee. the room was neat and clean and it had a small refrigerator. It was quiet and comfortable.

I agree with most of what the previous reviewer said, rooms are of moderate model standard, nice beds, bathroom, basically you get what you pay for, and this is a decent choice if staying in Jackson, Wyoming, close to cinema, stores and the town square.

However Jackson itself was not really what I expected. I booked two tours, one to Grand Teton and the other to Yellowstone. The Teton tour was informative if short and clouds covered the mountains that day so the whole purpose of the trip into the park was lost. Second day tour company never turned up, we come half the way round the world to see Yellowstone and end up not going at all, such a pity.

Jackson itself is not that pretty, especially when you compare it to somewhere like Chamonix in France which has the 16,000 foot Mont Blanc, basically at the end of the town. Here the mountains are miles away and not really visible from town and Yellowstone is 60 miles, away, too far in my opinion.

Add to that the expense of getting here either by bus or plane, you would be better off probably going somewhere either closer to Yellowstone or somewhere more scenic like Chamonix.
