Stiegler's is an elegant locale and fun place to visit. Peter Stiegler is an excellent chef. Anything we have had is well prepared. If you get the soup it is made from scratch, including the soup stock. We had celery root. Excellent. This time we only had snacks and drinks at the bar. The place is pretty pricey, but you may not find the same cuisine elsewhere. We were able to watch the olympics at the bar, which was way fun considering the owners. And if you are lucky Peter plays music to entertain some evenings.

Take time to find this gem and enjoy. Everything we tasted was great. Service was top notch. Food pacing was just about right. Nothing about it was hurried. Each dish had unique flavors. Even the side dishes of red cabbage and creamed spinach were delightful.

My husband and I had a delightful time dining at Stiegler's. Service, ambiance, and food were all seamless and wonderful without being stiff and snobbish. The ambiance seems more "formal" compared to others in this ski town in winter time, but it's actually warm and cozy. We learned the background of the place and its owner, who walked around and greeted everyone. Good food that's more on the traditional side. Big portions, but some dishes have "kleiner" (small) option. It's consistent as other places that staff is so very nice (as this may be one of the nicest spots in Jackson) that they called a taxi service for us to go back to our hotel in downtown. (The most expensive part was the taxi ride to and from, as the town has a set prices and is $35 one way. We knew this and felt it was worth it on our vacation :-)) I was unable to finish my dessert, so they packed it up for us :-)

The setting is typical Austrian. Some of the dishes, too. The Wiener Schnitzel is like in Austria, the Apfelstrudel, too. We have been often to Austria, and this is as good as it gets in the US. Some of the entrees are done for the American tastebuds, but all in all, the real deal.
The Apfelstrudel was the best we ever had. And we had a lot in Tyrol and Salzburg and Vienna...

Small restaurant in a small town. Wouldn't make it in an urban area. Don't let them seat you near the kitchen. The door bangs every time someone goes through it.
