Hampton Inn Jackson Hole
Ranked #12 of 40 Hotels in Jackson
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed June 21, 2014

Front desk staff were very friendly. Housekeeping staff were not. Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I worked in several hotels in the '80's and '90's, each of which had a policy that employees were to speak only English in front of guests. (Unless, obviously, a guest requested another language.) The policy existed for a clear reason; that staff were to make guests feel comfortable. It's only natural to feel uncomfortable when employees are essentially being dismissive of your presence. I might be fighting a losing battle here, and the Hampton Inn Jackson Hole certainly isn't the only hotel guilty of this, but I felt it needed mentioning. The housekeeping staff's unfriendliness goes well beyond their refusal to speak English, too. When someone's paying $330 a night and walks past you in the hallway, a smile and eye contact should go without saying.

The manager on duty was extremely friendly, kibitzing with every table during breakfast, offering to top off people's coffee, etc. Trainee kid who handled check-in was great, too.

Hotel retains the signature Jackson decor, found on multiple chain establishments throughout the town. The property was a Days Inn many years ago, and the only remaining trace of that is that the rooms are kind of tiny. Breakfast was fine (if cramped - there aren't that many places to sit), parking was easy. The place is expensive, but it's dumb to complain about market conditions. Lots of people all wanting to stay in a small resort town at the same time necessitates high prices.

Thank you for your review – we value your feedback!

Please remember that this property was built in 1987 as a Days Inn, in 2012 we completed an extensive renovation and rebranded it as a Hampton Inn, hence the reason for the smaller than usual room size and public spaces.

We appreciate your comments regarding your stay and would like to apologize for the lack of enthusiasm from our Housekeeping department, we will emphasize the importance of having "Hamptonality" regardless of language preferences.

Rest assured we will use your review for a training tool at our weekly staff meeting and hope you'll reconsider staying with us again on your next trip to Jackson Hole - please allow us to WOW you!

This property is a little older, I have to admit. However, we ended up with a nice two-room suite that worked perfectly for us. The view of the surrounding mountains was awesome. This probably wasn't the nicest Hampton Inn we've stayed at but was far from the worst. You can definitely count on a great staff, which is nice when traveling with small children! We checked out other properties in Jackson and we couldn't really find anything better for this price range so this was a good value without giving up amenities. I see reviews of the smaller rooms but I can't comment on those since we paid a little extra for a suite.

Room Tip: Pay a little extra for a suite

We couldn't agree with you more about our friendly staff, beautiful mountain vistas and spacious suites!

We look forward to seeing you again on your next trip and thank you for choosing the Hampton Inn Jackson Hole over the many lodging options in the valley.

We started our 10 day trip at this hotel for 2 nights. King suite with fireplace and large bathroom was very nice. Little hard to find hotel due to local sign regulations and being behind a restaurant, but quiet and clean. Loved being greeted by the outdoor fire pits when we returned each night. Can walk to Kmart and grocery store but short, 5 min drive to downtown area.

Thank you for your kind words - we are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us!

It's true, our signs are not the typical big signs as in most cities, but we're glad you found us! Our location is ideal - between Kmart and Albertson's and behind one of the best restaurants in Jackson Hole - The Rendezvous Bistro!

We pride ourselves on the cleanliness of our rooms as there is nothing better than a clean bed to fall into after a long day of exploring Jackson Hole!

Again, thank you for your comments and for choosing to stay with us. We hope you'll come back in the winter and experience all there is to do when the valley is covered in a beautiful blanket of white snow!

room was too small for the beds that were in it. We felt like we were on top of each other. The bathroom was ridiculously tiny for the room and for the hotel. They had RVs parked in the parking lot with the generators going all night and their pop outs set to out. It would have been nice to have the windows open but the noise from the RVs was loud. I felt like I was in a campground! Ug.

You may prefer staying in one of our 13 King Suite rooms as they are just that - sweet and spacious - we have 6 suite styles, each with different amenities ranging from sleeper sofas, a jetted tub, two with soaking tubs, 3 with large stand up showers, and 5 with fireplaces!

We appreciate your comments regarding your stay and would like to apologize for the tour bus that was parked here during your stay. We had a band staying with us and were unaware that the generator would be running since all members were staying in the hotel!?! We will make a point to ask for those to be turned off with future buses.

Kudos to the staff and management of the Hampton Inn at Jackson Hole. We stayed 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the people, service, location and amenities. Check in was fast and friendly. Rooms were very clean and nicely decorated. The wi-fi was fast and reliable. The morning breakfast was ample and provided a wide variety of selections. Coffee and water was always available. Many stores and restaurants are all within walking distance and there is plenty of parking. The fire pits and backdrop of the mountains was beautiful. What more can you ask for? Thank you Hampton , for a truly pleasant experience for first timers to Jackson. We hope to be back very soon!!

We are thrilled that you enjoyed all the amenities this hotel has to offer our guests and I have to admit, my favorite amenity at the hotel is our fire pits – never too old to enjoy s’mores!

We think our location to the National Parks and the Town Square is pretty convenient too! And if you don't feel like getting back into the car or don't have a car, take the START Bus, the stop is on our property and they offer a FREE Town Shuttle which runs every 20 minutes!

Again, thank you for your comments and for choosing to stay with us. We hope you'll come back in the winter and experience all there is to do when the valley is covered in a beautiful blanket of white snow!

When one visits a resort area, one is not surprised to find higher prices. However, one should receive something for that higher price. This is an old hotel badly in need of updating, It has seen better days, and nothing about it was welcoming.
We must have had the worst room in the place. The bathroom was so tiny that one person could hardly fit into it, much less two, trying to get ready in the morning.
And can you imagine furniture placement so bad that the air conditioner was no more than a foot or two from directly blowing into my face? That means that the person on one side of the bed either will be freezing or roasting, or as in our case, unable to sleep from being in such a stuffy room. We were forced to just turn it off. Guess they save money that way.
Then there is the breakfast area, which is totally tiny for such a large hotel. There is no lobby to speak of. No one ever welcomed us or asked how our stay was. We will not return.

Room Tip: I would be hard-pressed to even know if there is a good room in this hotel. It surely was not ours.

Stayed two separate nights at this Hampton Inn and had an enjoyable stay both nights. Probably the prettiest, high end room in an Hampton Inn that I have ever stayed in. Clean, comfortable and quiet. The laundry facilities were excellent also with two washers and two dryers and the front desk was very accommodating in making change for laundry use. Excellent breakfast both days. The only downsides are that it is not really walkable to downtown and the room is very small for a family of four. The normal size of a Hampton inn room is significantly bigger. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Of all the amenities this hotel has to offer our guests, I have to admit, my favorite is our breakfasts! Such a good variety of healthy options and the waffles with toppings...yum!

You've got to love it when a hotel has the proper amenities, i.e. a handy laundry facility, needed to feel like you're right at home!
