“Best views in Jackson, but don't book during a convention”
Reviewed September 29, 2010

Breathtaking views, fabulous restaurant, lovely pool. I have stayed three times at Spring Creek, twice in a townhouse, and this past summer in a large villa.
The villa was beautiful, but not worth $2200.00 a night; at that price there should be notable attention to detail, impeccable service, and no excuses made if a problem is discovered. When we arrived we found a clogged toilet in one bathroom, a broken shower hose in another, and half-filled tissue/toilet rolls in each bathroom. Maid service the next day had not arrived by 3:;00, and when I called I was told that the resort had been very busy. The man who brought a late paper which we had ordered told us that there was a change over of staff, because of college kids leaving. Plan accordingly: don't book when there is a convention staying at the resort, (restaurant will be full too) and try to avoid the end of summer turnover.
I would willingly pay for the gorgeous views, but would not rent the villa again, as it I think my expectations were set pretty high for so expensive an accommodation.

1st. let me say that this Hotel does have probably the Best view of the Grand Tetons. We originally wanted to stay in the town of Jackson and we are so glad we didn't. Jackson is close enough and easy to find parking that we never minded being away from it. We spent every morning and evening enjoying the view. We had room 2208. It had 2 double beds and they must have been used as trampolines. The first night my wife woke up crying because her back hurt so much. Mine did too and I can sleep on any mattress. We contacted the front desk that morning and then left for the day. When we returned the bed was made but no change to the mattress. We contacted the front desk again and a service person came up and I helped him move the other bed over to the one we were sleeping on, which was just barely better than the one we were sleeping on. I would have loved to see a little more concern from the management on this issue. I felt bad for anyone sleeping in the room below us. The boards on the floor squeak a lot so every time you walk around I am sure they heard us. The sliding door is next to impossible to open. My wife could not do it. I had to open it every time for her. This place has the potential to be one of the nicest hotels in Jackson. They have lots to offer and again no one has a better view. I just think it is time to invest some money into updating some items. The restaurant is very nice but make sure if you want to go, that you make reservations. Our last night there we decided at last moment that we did not want to go into town and would just eat there and they had no room for us, not even at the bar. Even though the bed was bad, if they fixed that we would stay there again.

To put these comments in context, we stayed at Spring Creek for four nights on our first visit to Jackson to drive around and see things, so we did use any of the activities offered. It was simply a place to stay at night. And, given that, it was important that it have a view of the Tetons to make the price and the stay worthwhile. There are, in fact, three view possibilities there: (1) unobstructed view of the Tetons; (2) decent view of the Tetons over somebody else's condo, and (3) view of somebody else's condo. So, if this is important to you, I would make sure in advance what your accommodations are going to be overlooking. .If you can't get a satisfactory view arranged, I would simply stay someplace down in town for a much lower price. The other problem with Spring Creek is that the only meals you can get up there are in the Granary, which is expensive.

One of the resident naturalists, Karen, made our vacation fabulous! We took two of her safaris (Yellowstone Day Safari and Night Animal Viewing), and they were both terrific. She was so knowledgeable and personable that we felt right at home with her. Karen has a real knack for locating wildlife. Our daughter was quite an admirer of her by the second day. The nature center and naturalist Programs make this hotel worth it. The riding stables also do a very good tour and the hotel is in a great location for photography. The only downsides are thin walls and a restaurant with a rather limited menu.

Stayed for two nights after staying in one room at Yellowstone (3 nights) and one room in Cody(2 nights). It was great to spread out after sharing a room with our children. The everyone enjoyed the hotel and the pool, they let us borrow tennis rackets to use on the courts and it was a great time had by all. The view of the Tetons was also great. The complementary breakfast was memorable and I would recommend the breakfast burrito.

Stayed for two days prior to a tour of Yellowstone and area. We had a two bedroom suite, one king, two singles with a bathroom shared between the two rooms. We found the rooms to be excellent, clean, well furnished and in a beautiful location. The staff were helpful and friendly though some signs of disorganisation (messages incorrect etc). The pool was not elaborate but was a good size with loungers and towels. Generally the place seemed to be very peaceful. The concierge was wonderful, she organised several trips for us and made huge efforts to ensure that all went well. Prices seemed on the high side with extra resort fees added but on the whole we felt the stay was good value. We had breakfast in the Granary which was excellent and dinner when we arrived which was superb. Great service both times. The only negative was that when we arrived for our booking at the Granary on the night of our arrival (after a long trip) we were told that the booking had been made for 6.30 not 8.30. As our pick up from the airport was requested for 6.30 this was obviously impossible and presumably a simple mistake or misreading, however the hostess was not very helpful. The restaurant closed at 9 and presumably she did not want more customers but tables were available and it was only 8.30.We had to get obviously annoyed before she was prepared to seat us. Table staff were however, excellent and we really enjoyed the meal. On the whole we very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel. Even with a few glitches I am still happy to give full marks
