Good for: Local cuisine, Large groups, Bar scene
Dining options: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Late Night
Description: Located South of Town Square. The Bird provides one of the most fantastic views in the greater Teton Valley, with panoramic mountain vistas offering a brilliant sunset. A favorite watering hole of local legend Colonel Angus, it is a neighborhood pub atmosphere with rustic wood interior. Great for all but beware, the late-night scene can get quite rowdy and may not be suitable for families with young children. The Bird prides itself in offering a unique "local" experience whilst offering great cuisine. Not the place to be pandered to but if you wish to let loose, eat right, and escape the standard tourist trap come on in!

I live in Jackson, so I've tried every single place in town. The Bird is hands down the best low key bar/restaurant in the area! They grind their own meat for hamburgers, so the burgers are THE BEST! There's a pool table if you're looking for a game. And when the weather is nice, you can sit out on the back deck watch the sun set over the Tetons. Make the short drive south of town and go! By the way, if you have one too many to drink, The Bird will drive you home in their van that's available for that very purpose.

A local pub game where a $1 roll of the dice with a five of a kind wins the pot. Local tradition requires the winner to seed the pot, buy a round of drinks, and tip the staff; however, that's not the best part of this review. They only serve breakfast on Sunday for brunch starting at 10:00 a.m. Yes, this is a bar and they don't serve coffee, but you can bring in a cup from the store at the other end of the building despite the sign - no outside drinks. Kelly is very friendly, from Texas, and even styles hair. All of the other servers are attentive and helpful.

Be careful when ordering, portions are very large. Biscuits are the size of a softball and the omelets cover half of the plate. The steak is very tender, but make sure you read the menu cover before ordering. Hamburgers seem to be a top menu item, so we will be back.

Not much more to say then what everyone else has already said. Just make the short drive out of town with an empty stomach and fill it with beer and a burger. Delicious.

Staff has that grizzly lift operator vibe but once you talk to them they are as friendly as can be. Place doesn't give off that utlra sanitary vibe but what it lacks in appearance it makes up for in taste. Probably wouldn't recommend this as a romantic night out spot. This is a place to go with your bro and do some male bonding.

I reviewed The Bird a couple years ago, but was just there tonight. I had the steak and it was cooked perfect. I was there with 5 other people and everything was perfect except for one of the other steaks. That steak would have passed as great in most places, but since it was being served to a wine dude from France...he wanted it rarer and even the way he probably ordered it. Without hesitation the owner, after he asked about the steaks and found out one was a bit overdone, took the steak from our bill...with much protest from us. It is the way they have always done things at The Bird and continue to do so. They genuinely try to make everything perfect there, but when it isn't and as things happen... as sometimes imperfection will...they make it so. A great night at a great bar. Great food, with great beer and excellent staff. Quite simply...the best place in Jackson. If you don't go there...you miss a great...maybe THE jackson experience.

We ate here late afternoon one day so the place was all but empty meaning we had our choice of seats. We chose to sit outside and enjoy the glorious view in the lovely sunshine.

The burgers (what else would you order when you come here!) were very large and very tasty and the fries were excellent. We ordered our burgers as suggested (medium rare) and can agree that this seems to the best way to enjoy them.

My husband particularly liked The Bird since it doesn't pretend to be something it's not, unlike some of the places in town.

If in Jackson again we would certainly stop by.
