“Yummy breakfast!”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

Nice first breakfast in Jackson! The place fills up pretty quickly so you should get there early. We had the eggs over easy, sausage, bacon, corned beef hash, toast and potatoes. Everything was cooked perfectly and was of great quality. The bacon had a wonderful smoky flavor and portions were reasonable. Even the bread was good. Definitely recommended for breakfast if you are in the Jackson area.

It was our pleasure to welcome you to Jackson with a hearty, satisfying breakfast. And our amazing bread you referred to is made by Persephone Bakery (we're lucky to have them as neighbors). Thanks for joining us. We hope you had a great trip.

“Great breakfast & lunch; steak at dinner is fantastic!”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

We have eaten all three meals here...breakfast and lunch are fantastic! The steak at dinner - with the truffle fries - is a standout and well priced. Steak was perfectly cooked, delicious! Fries are aromatic and divine. The best! Great wine by the glass. After 3pm they serve a happy hour menu and we both had the grilled cheese and tomato soup - yummy - it was rainy that afternoon and perfect. they make the grilled cheese with bread from Persephone- divine. One chilly night I ordered the fried chicken and Mac and cheese- not my favorite. The chicken was a bit greasy, and the Mac and cheese was too heavy for me...I ate a small amount. Someone else might find it perfect. The next time I ordered the steak and was thrilled. Great patio! Very friendly hosts! Some wait staff are more out-going than others, but all competent.

Wow, thanks for all the positive feedback! I'm happy to hear that you were able to experience all 3 meals with us as each has something special to offer. We try to prepare even the simplest of dishes with high quality ingredients and proper technique, and I'm glad it was evident on your plates. We hope to spoil you again next summer with our ever-changing inventions.

“Good restaurant”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

Cafe Genevieve is just off the square in Jackson, which puts it in competition with a lot of good restaurants. The plus is a nice, sort of funky setting in an older, log cabin, building with a nice outdoor wraparound porch, plus plenty of seating inside. The menu looked good, but we found the dishes we ordered to okay but not great. The best at the table was the broiled Idaho trout with nice Romesco sauce. Less successful was a barramundi special that was overcooked. We were given a table right at the door from the kitchen and were always worried about being hit by the high traffic. We got the sense that the real focus here was on the locally produced high-end Kurobuta pork chops. ($32), especially sense there is a pig in the Cafe's logo. The restaurant was full and it took a long time to get service and we ended up grabbing a different waiter to get another bottle of wine. I wouldn't say don't go there, because I got the sense that they often do better than what we got, but maybe stay away from Friday nights and go with the items they do best. I'd say the pork chop and the duck confit ($26), and the trout ($24). Decent wine selection. Deserts were good, but nothing special. We had a key lime cheesecake and a peach pie.

Thank you for choosing Café Genevieve for dinner while visiting Jackson. We appreciate your recommendations for favorite dinner entrees, and regret that your fish special was not prepared to your liking. We will work towards providing attentive and sincere service, even in the middle of a busy rush, and hope to get the chance to impress you in the future. Please come see us again and try that Pork Chop...it's one of my personal favorites. Thanks for the feedback.

“Great Find”
Reviewed September 1, 2013 via mobile

We stumbled upon this cute restaurant during our stay in Jackson. We got lucky and got seated right away on the outside porch, but most people that followed us had dinner reservations - so I'd recommend calling ahead. The service was great and the pig candy and stuffed peppers were delicious. The portions were large, so you could get away with splitting some appetizers and an entree and be full.

I'm glad you were able to take advantage of the beautiful end-of-summer weather on our patio. And you're right, the patio seats are very popular this time of year but we are always happy to accept reservations for any time of day. Thanks for sharing your experience. We hope you'll be back for some more Inspired Home Cooking.
