Goosewing is an awesome experience and i am trying to get my family to go with me next time. dont belive the other guy. the have natural spring water, towels at the pool and hot tub, and free water and soda fountain, francois is the nicest person i have ever met, plenty to do like fly fishing, target shooting, bow and arrow, dancing with tina, and much more. i am soooooo excited about coming again. the wranglers, tina, jennifer, wayne, eric, and others are soooooooo nice. including denver and angela and john, the chef.
i am sooo excited to come again.

Goosewing Ranch, wonderful remote location which offers a chance to ride over some of the most beautiful terrain on great horses with great wranglers, you are able to do more progressive riding here if you want too, more than just a walking pace which makes for some great riding and you don't ride the same trail twice.
On top of that the individual cabins are a treat with a balcony that overlooks the horse corals where you can sit with a book in the late afternoon sun or just admire the amazing views, also the covered hot tub is only a short walk away to ease those aching muscles after a days riding, lovely bathrobes provided.
Then there's the friends, the great friends you meet when you sit down for the hearty meals that the ranch provides, a great cooked breakfast to set you up for the day, dinner on the ride then a cooked evening meal which you enjoy whilst discussing the days riding you've experienced.
This is the best experience I have had on a holiday and the ranch is run wonderfully by Francois the owner and all his dedicated staff.
Roll on 2008 when i shall return to this remote piece of paradise and meet up with my great friends for another great ranch experience at the GOOSEWING.

Goosewing is the greatest ranch ever! It is a piece of heaven on earth! Francois was great, and so was ALL the staff! Everyone was so warm and welcoming. They had a hot fresh supper waiting for us when we got in about 9:30 pm the first night. We had been delayed by a heavy snow over the Rockies. It was so good to be able to sit down in a nice warm lodge, eat a hot supper, and relax from driving all day. After we had finished supper, Scott took us down to our cabin and helped us get settled in. All of the next week, we went riding. Goosewing has some of the best horses and wranglers! Once again, everyone was so friendly. Even though they probably had lots of work to do, they still made time to be sure and talk to you personally. They made sure you were comfortable on your horse and in your saddle, and they were happy to give you a different horse or saddle if you wanted it. The ride was great, and so were our lunches! Francois, Scott, Amy, Mike, Morgane, Gretchen, Jill, Wayne, Eric, Kevin, Dianna, Ken, Wayne, and all the staff were totally awesome!!! Our week there was the best week of my life! I would go back to Goosewing in a heartbeat! If you go out West and want to stay at a guest ranch, Goosewing is the place to stay!

We picked Gooswing Ranch so we could enjoy a dude ranch experience. After an hour and half ride on mostly unpaved road, we were greeted by the grumpy owner Francois. After being presented with a long list of things we could not do (not much to do I might add), we were handed a key, pointed in the direction of the cabin and that was that. No bottled water, no tour of the facilities, no welcome of any kind. After unloading our own luggage (two mothers and daughters), we took a quick look inside the dark small "cabin" and knew we wanted to be outside. Unfortunately, there are no comfortable meeting places for the group. There are outside picnic tables in full sun and 4 chairs inside the lodge and a complete lack of comfortable places to read, talk etc.. At one point we were directed to the small outdoor pool but were reminded to bring our own towels (there are two in the room) and bring them back to the room to use later. Wouldn't it be nice to have pool towels available at the pool? Nice lounge chairs to sit and relax?
The riding , on the otherhand, was good and we were given the option of a 2, 4, or 8 hour ride. The friendly young staff was very helpful and made sure we enjoyed our ride. However, their politeness could not make up for the one warm bottled water and sandwich that was placed in our pack bag at 8:30 am and opened at 12:30 in 90 degree heat. It was so repulsive we all choked it down because we knew that no other food or snack would be available until dinnertime at 7 pm. After the ride, no bottled water was available. "Drink the well water, you get used to the taste," was a common refrain. Hot smelly well water does nothing to satisfy your thirst after a long hot horseback ride!
Finally, the food was average and presented with the same hostility that the owner showed us. Meal time was not an enjoyable experience, it was simply eat what is given to you and hope you like it because you have no other option. We were thankful we had brought our own cheese and snacks because our children were unable to go 7 hours without being offered any food. A French owner who never had any appetizers or cheese before dinner? We suspect he was up in his own cabin enjoying cocktail hour. One Sunday afternoon after being fed pizza-- only-- no salad, no side dish, just pizza-- we watched in horror as the kitchen prepared garlic shrimp, a cheese course and steak for the visting friends celebrating Bastille Day. Perhaps the weekly food budget was allocated to that celebration and not the food for the guests?
After several days there we discovered that the property was for sale and it was clear to us that every penny was being saved and not put into the property. The sheets are polyester and thread bare, the towels old and stained, the cabins in desperate need of updating. Every penny accounted for made the whole experience so uninviting. What about fresh wildflowers at the table, yogurt or snacks for the children throughout the day?
Had it not been for the wonderful group of young college students that worked for the summer, we might not have been able to bear it . They were consisitently friendly and upbeat and they really tried to make the experience as enjoyable as possible.
As we leaving we were told to check out the Red Rock Ranch down the road because it is the kind of dude ranch you would want to visit. After stopping by that ranch, it made us realize there are great dude ranches out there and Goosewing was not one of them! At best Goosewing is a fend for yourself Super 8 motel with outrageous rates and average food!

At Goosewing Ranch, we take customer service very seriously. With a maximum capacity of 30 guests and nearly 20 people on staff during summer months, we feel we are able to provide a wonderful guest ranch experience to our guests, down to the smallest details. Our water does not come from a well; it comes from natural spring, (who wants to drink city tap water when on a ranch in Wyoming?) We also have bottled water available anytime upon request. We have snack time daily at 3pm in the lodge (or anytime upon request) as well as appetizers before dinner. We do not expect guests to use their bath towels at the pool; we have pool towels available in the lodge. We also provide robes in the cabins for each guest. At Goosewing, if there is something you would like and do not feel you are getting, just ask!!! We try our best to accommodate each request.

We have been to the Goosewing 3 years in a row, it's really a little heaven on earth. It's beautiful, the staff is incredible, the pool has views of the Tetons, the guided rides on horseback take you places you would normally never get to view. Great trout fishing on the ranch and nearby as well. The road is a little rough to get out there, but the views from the road make it well worthwhile.
