My wife, daughter and I decided to spend a weekend in Jackson Hole. This was one of the sites we visited.
On the west side of the park there were hundreds if not thousands of Elk. They were large and the racks were huge. It was very impressive watching them as bald eagles flew over head.
There is a back entrance to the park and we drove down that. There we saw 50 to 75 big horn sheep. Some were defying gravity of the sides of a mountain. We sat in the car and watched the sheep mingle around. Soon they came closer to the car. After a few minutes we had about a dozen of them licking our car (I guess for salt from the roads). Every now and then a couple large rams would butt heads.
It was amazing to see these so up close.
In the summer - none of these animals are here (at least we did not see any our two most recent trips) but it is a must see in the winter.
