The extensive art collection is spectacular. Allow at least a half-day to do it justice. The gift shop has lots of nice items for sale.

The museum is in a beautiful building tucked into the hillside across from the Elk Refuge. They have a great collection of wildlife and nature art. I was impressed at the age and preservation of many pieces. They have been artfully arranged and the museum has a good flow. Great views out onto the Elk Refuge as well. Great place to spend an afternoon.

The National Museum of Wildlife Art is a world-class treasure for the town of Jackson. The museum has an amazing standing collection and brings the best in wildlife art from around the world. The special events alone are worth the price of an annual pass. Don't miss the Wild Sage Cafe for a very special meal overlooking the wildlife of the National Elk Refuge. This is a don't miss stop on any visit to Jackson Hole.

This museum houses many incredible works of art and serves as a real voice for species preservation and wildlife appreciation. The collection is massive. Many excellent works of art. Beautiful sculptures, magnificent paintings, artifacts, and photos. We spent much more time there than we expected, and well worth the visit. The gift shop was great, too. I found a beautiful handmade cup decorated by a local artist to take back. Pleasant staff.

The architecture of this building is swoon-worthy; it sits tucked up and into the hillside overlooking the National Elk Reserve but it isn't until you get out of your car that all the magnificence hits you and you won't know what to look at first. Outside is a sculpture trail with such amazing specimens that are so well placed that you could just roam through the outdoor sculptures all day. Coupled with the views, you might not even go inside except that that would be a huge mistake because the inside is even better.
It is a wondrous collection. Art lovers, art haters, children, teens... EVERYBODY will see something that will beguile and capture their hearts. Historic paintings, new paintings, paintings by world renowned artists like Georgia O'Keefe and the Wyeths, paintings and sculptures by artists you have heard of and by artists that you will be thrilled to discover and even more. If you do not visit because you are afraid of the word "museum," you are truly missing an experience that should not be missed.
