“Luxury in the heart of Jackson Hole”
Reviewed November 16, 2009

You don't need to head to Teton Village for the Four Seasons or high up on some windy butte miles from town to find beautiful accomodations in Jackson Hole. The Wort's rooms are warm, luxurous, and family friendly. As semi- locals, we stay here as our hotel of choice when we visit the valley for business or pleasure. You can't ask for more, steps from downtown w/a full service bar and restaurant one floor below you. The pictures explain all regarding the level of spaciousness and class you will get with this room versus other hotels in the valley which can be quite sterile or too contemporary for your western ideal vacation. As far as service is concerned, it was always friendly but sometimes lacking in effeciency which you'll find w/local hires/kids. Our waiter spoke for 2 mintues in front of us w/a friend regarding his upcoming climb up the grand before taking our order. He seemed to think we might be impressed by this escapade, but in reality, we've done it all before and just wanted to eat! And we had to call 3x to get a crib, even though we requested it w/our initial reservation. Both instances were never followed up w/an apology. But again, all service, although sometimes lacking, was friendly and w/o attitude and the food/drinks can't be beat.

When choosing a lodging choice for Jackson Hole, the Wort cannot be beat. First of all it is an historic Inn, and part of Jackson Hole's history. You can spend an hour looking at all the historic photographs throughout the hotel. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable; you can walk to just about any restaurant or shop. There is a fantastic restaurant downstairs, high speed internet available for a very reasonable price; and a fantastic desk staff, and housekeeping staff. I could go on and on about what a wonderful time I had staying there.

The hotel was in the heart of town and close to all the attractions. It was within close proximity to Teton National Park and 2 hours from Yellowstone Naional Park. All the facilities were very clean and everyone was very helpful. Would definitely stay here the next time I'm in Jackson.

The Wort Hotel is in the very heart of Jackson Hole walking distance to everything. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean. For those of you looking to stay in town I don't believe there is a better option. It's a bit more upscale than other options in downtown Jackson offering turn down service, marble bathrooms, quality linens, room service, etc

Employees were genuinely friendly. Only negative is a tiny basement gym that isn't worth using.

A much better option than the plethora of motels offered in downtown Jackson Hole yet similarly priced.

We arrived at the Wort on September 17th after spending a week in Yellowstone. We selected the Wort due to its proximity to the airport for our return trip home. Plus, we wanted a few days to unwind from the driving and explore the town of Jackson. The staff was warm and friendly and allowed us to check-in to our room several hours before the appointed check-in time.

We booked the deluxe package (2 nights for ~ $800) which consisted of 2 queen beds, 1 dinner (for 2), 2 breakfasts (for 2), 2 tickets to the National Wildlife Museum of Art, 2 drinks in the Silver Dollar Bar, and roses in the room. While the deluxe rate is a bit on the high side, we enjoyed superb meals at the hotel and feel the perks brought the price a little more into alignment. The Wort offers turn down service and leaves chocolates on your pillow at night.

We enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Wort - especially the halibut and brie puff pastries. Since our early flight would not permit us to enjoy a second breakfast at the hotel, the staff permitted us to use our breakfast voucher for lunch.

The Wort is central to all activities in Jackson Hole. We explored shops and art galleries that were just steps away. The National Wildlife Museum is about a mile outside of town and made for a wonderful side trip. Someone referred to it as the "Smithsonian of the West ", with sculptures and art work by O'Keefe, Pope, Wyeth and more. We highly recommend visiting the museum. The Wort is a great location for those visiting Grand Teton National Park. A great deal of wildlife (buffalo, elk, trumpeter swans, coyotes, deer) can be seen in the park and surrounding Jackson Hole area.

After returning from one of our excursions, we received an invite to a reception being held at the hotel for western frontier artist, Joe Velazquez. Mr. Velazquez painted three of the paintings that hung in the Wort lobby. It was a delight meeting Joe and his wife. They filled us in on some wonderful history of the Jackson area.

We timed our visit for the weekend, spending Thursday night at the Million Dollar Cowboy bar line dancing to a live band. Friday night, we enjoyed our free cocktails in the Silver Dollar Bar where another live band was playing.

Two other great eating places in Jackson: The Bunnery - we stopped in for breakfast. This is a popular place, so be prepared to wait a bit. The Gunbarrel - offers the best steaks we've ever eaten. The filet just melts in your mouth. The Gunbarrel is furnished with all kinds of western decor. Reservations are recommended and the Wort staff offered to make them for us!

I highly recommend the Wort Hotel - for its charm, history, staff, food, location. I hope I have a chance to return one day!

I have had the pleasure of staying at the Wort Hotel on several occasions over the past few years and have always found the experience enjoyable. An historic hotel within the touristy Jackson, WY downtown area, it is exactly what visitors to the area want to see- an Old West setting with leisurely comforts.

The landmark hotel opened in the early 1940's and remains well kept, with some areas reconstructed following a fire several decades ago. Dark wood & leather, great fireplaces, historic pictures, and animal trophies are prevalent throughout the facility, leaving guests with a unique Western experience. Rooms are fairly sized and comfortable, with little touches added like "stuffed bears" on the beds. Easily accessible to the Town Square and restaurants, as well as local tourist shops makes the stay complete. Enjoy a walk in the cool night air or take short drives to Grand Teton National Park or Teton Village restaurants. A visit to the Hotel's famous Silver Dollar Bar is highly recommended, either for meals or beverages- clasically decorated with silver dollars on the tables and Old West gambling paraphenalia from a bygone era.

Highly recommended for guests of all ages, the Wort is a stay you won't forget.

This was our first trip to Jackson, WY. We wanted a quaint lodge-type hotel with a historic feeling in the heart of downtown Jackson. This is the place. The Wort lived up to all of our expectations. Extremely friendly staff and very very nice room. They actually had availability the night we stayed so they upgraded us to a junior suite without us asking. The room was huge with a full size sectional sofa sitting area, nice comfy bed and very nice bathroom. They also had a fun bar with so-so food. Parking was fairly easy and you could walk around town once parked at the hotel. We truly enjoyed our stay and can't wait to go back!
