“Affordable choice in expensive Jackson”
Reviewed June 23, 2014

The hotel rates in cowboy city Jackson are skyhigh, that is why we stayed in this hotel. But it still feels overpriced. Simple room, but adequate. Clean, everything worked. Pleasant and professional staff at the reception. Free wifi. Rustic interior. We slept good. The grocery store two blocks away has an amazing assortment and the McDonalds plays dvd's of Yellowstone and Grand Teton.

Stayed here one night as part of an 8 night tour. Jackson itself is great, an abundance of shops and places to eat, a bustling "cowboy" style town! The Virginian Lodge is a motel type of place, all one level with rooms set around a grassed area and swimming pool. Our room was fine, nothing luxurious, but adequate for a nights stay, the main problem being the lack of anything at the windows except main curtains!! No blinds or voile so you either had the curtains open to let light in, which meant everyone walking to their rooms on the pathway directly outside the window, could see directly into the room, or you had darkness with the curtains closed!! Something that definitely needs to be addressed! Wifi wouldn't work, and rooms were numbered in a strange order!!

Saying that, the room and breakfast were ok, and there are some places to eat nearby if you didn't want to go into Jackson itself. The location is fine, towards the edge of Jackson, but within reasonable walking distance depending on fitness of course, we are in middle to late 50s with some issues and managed it in approx 15 minutes.

Ok for a night.

Clean bath houses.

Good laundry facilities.

Cheapest I could find while searching months ago for my trip through Wyoming. I now understand why... This place has low water pressure, no in room refrigerators, loud ac/heater, & old furniture. With a good update this place could be very nice! Location is good, away from the crowded downtown area!

I stayed here one night and was surprised by the age of the building. It needs updating but it is adequate if you want a short stay. This motel is not in town, so unless you are a walker you may want something closer to downtown. The lobby is full of mounted animal heads and has a lodge like feel. It was clean and quiet. The breakfast was okay except we had no cereal which I thought was a mainstay on breakfast buffet.

Room Tip: some rooms facing inside are in the area which is directly by the pool in the center

We chose this hotel after a long drive from Utah, as it's very close to Yellowstone, our next destination. The receptionist was very nice and helpful. The room was huge, clean, well appointed and overlooked the pool. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub. It was close enough to central Jackson, where a wide variety of eateries could be found. There is also a restaurant next door that did great breakfasts.
The only downside was noise. The Lodge is a traditional wooden building, and the noise of doors closing in the adjacent rooms was greater than in a concrete building. Also, the lodge has an adjoining bar, and we could hear the entertainment from our room. That saying, we were dog tired, and fell asleep despite the background noise. This motel is about a 1 hour drive via The Tetons, to Yellowstone, and the scenery is stunning. I would definitely stay here if visiting Yellowstone, or skiing in Jackson Hole.

Room Tip: Request a room as far away from the bar as possible

We stayed their as a getaway from our stress and we loved it. The hotel was roomy and offered decent bathroom and it was close enough to Jackson that we weren't in the traffic. Only ten minutes from grand Teton and very affordable. Pool was great and the staff was very helpful and pleasant. Most certainly will say there again.

Room Tip: Either a two double bed or a three bed and book ahead for best price.
