“We end up coming back”
Reviewed August 11, 2012

This is the third time in four years we have stayed at this hotel. We have stayed at other local hotels but come back here due to the price. Jackson as a location has just about out-priced themselves for the average traveler. This hotel at any other location would be a third of it's price. Service and rooms are good and clean. If you want to stay at a high-end hotel in Jackson be prepared to spend $500.00 a night.

I don't get it ... Jackson WY is a pleasant place to wander around, but I just don't understand how the draw of Jackson enables an average at best motel like the Super 8 to charge super premium prices.on my annual motorcycle tour my Kiwi friends and I decided to book a night at the Jackson Super 8. After much looking around I managed to book two rooms through bookings.com for $368 total for the two rooms. When we arrived after a long days ride reception observed that nobody had recorded the second room. They gave us the last room available in the hotel as our second room and presented a bill for over $400 for the two rooms .... Something about Jackson Room taxes. Whatever! At $100 a night the rooms would have been over priced anywhere else in our travels. The hotel is old and has poor insulation between floors. Not a show stopper but at over $200 a night it is outrageous. My room had a wonderful view of some gravel and a fence. My traveling companions room had a better view of the parking lot. Breakfast was included and was pretty laughable. Not enough seating and the hot portion of the breakfast seemed to be the toast. We gave the breakfast a pass and went into the center of town to find a breakfast. After walking for about 20 minutes we found a restaurant that offered an all you can eat buffet at $7.99. The meal was less than ordinary and so we took the obligatory pictures of the antler arches and headed off for Hwy 191 and Vernal, Utah. The Super 8 gives as little as possible and charges super premium prices. After all .... It's located in Jackson, WY. My advice .... Give Jackson a pass and save some money for a few bottles of decent wine.

We stayed one night on our Wyndham points - yes it does look like something out of the 70's as a previous reviewer stated, shabby stair carpet, and you could hear people walking around upstairs (we were on the first floor). The corridors were narrow (felt sorry for the people who had rooms adjacent to the washing machines/driers). In the morning an early revving RV sounded like it was right in our room (the window was closed) - dont stay here if you are a light sleeper, the rooms overlook the carpark and there is no soundproofing. Bed was ok - breakfast was a sorry state of affairs, everything packaged in plastic, the breakfast room felt cramped and it was poor compared to other breakfasts we have had in hotels - danish, cereals, bread...
Having no elevator in this day and age is simply unacceptable - guests should not have to heft their cases upstairs - I have no idea what facilities they have for disabled but if no disabled access to upper floors this could be a problem - check first.....

Room Tip: dont stay in rooms opposite the washing machines. Bring earplugs.

This motel looks a bit different than the other ones ;-) - and is not so easy to find but everything was fine.
The rooms are clean, they offered continental breakfast (toast, cereals, coffee, juice, milk) and even if there were many people at the same time having breakfast all could find a place to eat.
The motel was not very expensive - so good choice.

Free wireless was very sporadic; included breakfast was not up to other chains. Location was ok since we had a car. It is old, rustic decor, with what you would expect the vintage of the decor in a 70's motel. However, for one night, it was fine. We didn't spend alot of time in the room -- just a place to sleep and shower.

Room was clean, plenty of space, breakfast provided with plenty of choices.
frig, coffee maker, microwave in the room, very quiet. Both entries made it easy
to access, but we were on the first floor. staff was friendly, helpful. Price was higher than other places we stayed in WY, but in line with other hotels in Jackson Hole.
We didn't think any part of the hotel looked old or rundown. The Lobby, breakfast room, and
common areas were decorated very nicely. Parking lot and outside entries were clean

Room Tip: as with any hotel, gettng the first floor is always good!

Cross country trip with lots of hotel stays, and this was the most disappointing. If not for it's connection to Jackson Hole and the outrageous pricing for anything in the area, this place might be out of business.

It is old, and it appears that it has had many coats of paint inside to try to mask it's age. But a three-story hotel with no elevator whose floors sag as you walk across the bathroom and round-bowl toilets that were never designed to fit men are very obvious. When the AC was turned on, the mildew smell poured out.

This place reminded me of somewhere whose short-comings I might have ignored coming back drunk late at night when I was single and in my twenties, but is not recommended for families unless price is the only criteria, and to a large degree, we felt the same about Jackson Hole, which is like Lake George Village on steroids - designed for folks that have a wad of cash they want to leave behind.

We should have listened to the old guy at the visitor's center at Grand Teton who said "Go through Cody, where they only charge you twice what things are worth, instead of three-times in Jackson Hole!"
