My husband and I followed the Oregon Trail for most of the way in late June from Missouri to Idaho and this park has by far the best wagon wheel ruts anywhere! It looked like the wagons had just gone by! The “tracks here are notable because they were cut into solid rock. A short trail leads uphill to two to six feet deep gouges cut by wagon wheels, draft animals, and people during its heavy usage from 1841-1869”. It doesn’t matter if you are a history or Oregon Trail buff or not, these ruts will stir up your imagination as you stand back and imagine the wagons pass by! The paved trail was delightful with wildflowers, birds and blooming cactus.
