“First time for everything”
Reviewed October 1, 2011

This is the first time we have ever had a hotel room in the hotel's basement. The room was clean but even lacked any kind of second lock on the door. The stairs leading to this basement creaked and seemed very flimsy. Budget is one thing but this place goes beyond with things like shampoo packets and a truly limited continental breakfast. They have only two tables in the breakfast room. My advice is to spend a little more in this town. There are lots of hotels and a little more money probably goes a long way.

Room Tip: Ask to stay above the basement

Dear gailmath,
The Budget Inn Express is under new ownership and Management as of July 2012. We are currently making upgrades to all of our rooms. The design of the building is a split level so the first floor is not actually a basement. The creaky stairs have been repaired by yours truly. Being brand new to this property I have been trying to complete repairs to all the rooms and common areas. We plan on expanding the continental breakfast to include waffles, and some other selected Items as well. I will ensure that there are security locks in all the rooms.
Thank You for your comments as they are very helpful in directing us in our upgrades and we certainly hope you will give us another try in the future.
Sincerely
James Simpson

Very good value hotel! At nearly half the rate of other hotels in the area, I wasn't expecting such a quiet, clean, spacious room!
Pros: Easy parking, excellent rates, indoor pool, quiet location, huge room, easy access to old downtown and freeway
Cons: Outside door did not require a key for entry (I'm a single female traveler and fond of security!), sheets were slightly pilled and lumpy pillows

I would stay here again.

Our family stayed at the Budget Inn en route from Chicago to Montana. After two long days on the road with two young kids (ages 1 and 3) we were very pleased to find a budget hotel with a pool. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and affordable and perfectly suited our needs. The pool area was very nice - I particularly liked the plants and the hot tub. We slept well and really enjoyed the continental breakfast before heading out for another long day of driving the following day. Would definitely stay here again when making this trip.

We stopped here on our way across the state. $59.95 for two people. Older hotel, but clean and convenient. Odd layout - rooms are either upstairs or downstairs from the small lobby. We were happy with the size of the room, fridge and microwave, nice bedding, shampoo & soap - plus and indoor pool, hot tub, laundry room and breakfast! What more could you ask for? The breakfast was ok - coffee, juice, cereal, toast, rolls. I would have liked some fruit - but at the price of the room I can buy my own yogurt and fruit!

We picked this hotel for the cost and the guest laundry availability. Arrived early specifically to do our wash after a week on the road. Had difficulty checking in as the young, foreign woman at the desk couldn't find our booking. I handed her a printed acknowledgment, but she still said we had no reservation. The owner/manager (her husband?) finally had to help her find the booking and get us checked in. I believe if we had arrived after 3 PM we wouldn't have had a problem, as there was a different person on the desk.

This is one of those properties that mixes smoking and non-smoking rooms on the same floor so we had that issue walking down the hall to our room - pipe smoking wafting out from one room and cigarette smoke from another room. Thinks weren't looking great at that point, but it was all uphill from there.

They have a bright laundry room with two each large capacity washer and dryer - excellent machines. The room was very large for a king and there was a refrigerator and microwave oven. The location is super, just off the highway in a cluster of like properties with gas stations, mini-marts and a supermarket is nearby.

While I would not stay here a second time, this inexpensive property served it's purpose for us.

Budget Inn Express was one of the nicest motels we've stopped at. The rooms were more spacious than other motels. We had a good sized mini fridge and microwave. We came through town late and the front desk gal was prompt to meet our needs. She brought down a roll away and extra bedding quickly. My daughter loved the pillows. The continental breakfast was a little slim but sufficient. All around nice motel, clean, comfortable and roomy.
