.... A well maintained and clean room that is a bit on the small side, in a slightly dated but not unattractive building. The carpet in the room appeared new. Our room had a small microwave, a small cube fridge, coffee maker, hair dryer, room safe, iron and ironing board, and comfortable beds. It was on the first floor towards the back, and very quiet. There is a restaurant and lounge on premise (open only for dinner) that seemed popular. We didn't try the restaurant, instead opting for pizza delivery. The check in / check out was efficient and prompt if not overly friendly. The free continental breakfast was what you'd expect. All this for about 1/2 the rate that was asked by the Hampton Inn up the street, or the Holiday Inn Express. Convenient to Interstate 80. I'd definitely stay here again.

The day before our trip, I realized I'd forgotten to book our rooms. So I called the hotel, and they matched our online discount price of a month before, which cut about $12 per night off our bill. For two nights, the cost was about $104. This is an older building but is well-maintained. It smells clean when you go in, and the rooms we were in also smelled clean. We did have a problem with the first room in that we couldn't get cold water in the shower, but the front desk moved us to another room which was fine. The AC worked great, and we were glad to have the fridge and microwave in the room. We are dinner in the restaurant the first night there, mostly because we were too tired to go look anywhere else. The Monterey Sirloin steak was marvelous, and we suspect they gave us the largest steak they had because we said we were sharing. We definitely got a double portion of salad, vegetables, and two baked potatoes. The hotel and restaurant staff made all the difference.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the courtyard a little noisier, but it was quiet by 11:00 p.m. We never heard anyo...

The rooms are clean and fresh. The lobby and much of the hotel seems updated so seems there might have been some sort of remodel and some of the other comments predate the changes because this hotel met our needs perfectly. We paid a great price compared to other local hotels, plus the hotel has an onsite restaurant, setting it apart from most of the other local hotels. This is a huge plus after a long drive and with hungry kids. The staff is super friendly and the place has a home town feel to it - would definitely recommend.

For a reasonable rate, you can't beat this place. A bit away from the other hotels, but still close to center of town. Bar and restaurant downstairs are convenient. Rooms are clean and adequate. Best of all, the people who work there are super nice. I stayed with family and had no complaints. If I am ever on the I-80, I'll probably stay there again.

Room Tip: 3rd floor suite we had was totally upgraded and roomy.

The building is quite old and the decor of the rooms is also getting on in date. However, everything was very clean and well cared for. The front desk staff were also friendly and welcoming.

After seeing the previous review I was a little apprehensive when our room was basically across the corridor from the noisy bikers bar. I mentioned this at the front desk and they said that there was only our room left on the ground floor but we could move upstairs later on if there was a problem.

And guess what? We didn't hear a peep from the bar despite being only 20 feet away. We went and had a drink ourselves and for a saturday night it was in full swing with the karaoke but was still friendly and welcoming. It was loud there but obviously there is good insulation from the rooms.

Breakfast had a good variety and we'd definitely stop by again if we were in the area.

Wow. This is NOT the place you want to stay. The last update to it looks like it was mid 1980, and on a budget then.
The biggest room is no bigger than 12x12 and you get another couple feet out of the bathroom.
You are going to want to keep you shoes on when walking around on the carpet.
There is NO ELEVATOR, anywhere, at all. Not exactly the friendly handicap accessible location one would hope for.
There is a bar, not a restaurant bar but a full on biker bar on the first floor with plenty of loud karaoke to stay up and enjoy, when you are trying to sleep on the 3rd floor.
It feels dingy and gross. We had originally booked for 6 days. We cancelled after the first night. The bed was 2/5 at least but it is really hard and kind of ridiculous that the biggest bed is only a double.
Smoking is everywhere.
It is too small. It is really old and not well kept. It is not a place you want to stay by choice.

This Howard Johnsons is in an old brick building and is old! The inside is warm, from the people, clean and well maintained. They have a breakfast but I left at 4:30 am and it is served at 5:00 am. Wish I was not in such a hurry to get home. The price was very much in line with my budget. Yes, I will stay again.
