DH, self and DS attempted to dine at Hunan Garden in late October. We were seated and got our drink orders promptly enough, but everything went downhill from there. The apparent owner of the restaurant took our food order, then we proceeded to wait... and wait.... and wait... with nary an acknowledgement from the busboys or her as to when our meals would arrive (and we were hungry!). We noticed a few parties who had arrived prior to us were also not getting served and interpreted that as a bad sign, so we paid for our drinks and left.
We went around the corner to The Scoop Ice Cream Parlor and had a perfectly delightful evening (see my review). We found out later on that the owner of Hunan Garden is a notorious micromanager who refuses to delegate any of the waitressing, cooking or cash handling responsibilities to her employees (who, according to a reviewer on another site, simply "cower in the corner awaiting her orders.") She insists on doing all of it herself while running herself ragged. Evidently, though, the take-out crowd gets served. If that's the crowd she wants to cater to, she should save herself the overhead of a sit-down restaurant and downsize.
