“Dubois was a pleasant little town on our stop to Yellowstone”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 12, 2012

We stayed at this Inn sight unseen, other than photos we viewed online, on our way to Yellowstone. We enjoyed the small town feel of the town and the options for dining. The rooms were outdated, as you have probably read in other reviews, but the outdoor pool was much enjoyed by our family after a long day of driving. They do not have air conditioning, which I'm sure based on other reviews, at times is not needed. But the night we stayed, it was very much needed!! Even with the windows open and the fan in the window, it did not cool down in the room enough to fall asleep until at least 2 am. With a long day of driving the day before and a drive ahead of us the next day, a cool comfortable night of sleep would have been ideal. Coffee in the room also would have been nice, but there was a gas station down the street that had good coffee.

This place has potential but it's tired and offers too little for the price. Check in was pleasant and efficient. There was an attractive outdoor pool and what looked like a nice laundry facility. The shower was entirely adequate but the room, while of adequate size, was dark. The one feeble bulb (the rest were burned out) in the overhead light struggled unsuccessfully. No air conditioner, not refrigerator, no coffee pot, no microwave, a tiny old fashioned television, cracked porcelain with overlay of rust in the sink and an uncomfortable bed rounded out the scene. The lack of an air conditioner wasn't so critical until the noise started and we had to close the windows.

It's true that, by law, after setting the price, a hotel/motel owner can't do much to choose the clientele. The owner also can't do much about the behavior of the citizenry around the facility that they run. That said, if the price is likely to attract noisy clients, the owner/operator would do well to stay around and try to take measures to restore quiet when it is destroyed. In a town whose motto is "Where real cowboys work and play" the town would do well to have the police monitor the business district to the same end.

Neither of these things happened. The result was a long tough night in a hell hole of a town. The party started in a bar near the motel and then moved into the motel where it roared along until 3:45 a.m. The only good part of our stay there was the excellent food in the deli/pizza/salad/soup place across the street.

We were going back to Colorado, and Du Bois was on the way. We thought there was nothing but a giant jackplope at the end of town, but we needed a place to stay for the night.

From the outside, it looks rather modest, but is quite nice on the inside. It has clean rooms and decent decor.

The beds are quite comfortably, and the showers heating and pressure are all and well.

The service is polite and pleasant, and they provide WiFi should you ask.

We have been coming to Dubois for over 50 years. The owners have become our closest friends. They are so warm and accommodating! This is the best place on Earth. We highly recommend it to anyone! This motel has a very clean pool and hot tub. They do not have air conditioning but it is definitely not needed. Once you open the windows the rooms cool off and it's the best nights sleep you will ever have, especially if you're coming from a very warm and humid climate.

Room Tip: We always have a room with cooking facilities for a week. It's completely furnished with everyt...

The people here were so nice. The price was great for the type of room, and very quiet. We ended up here on accident because of the Sturgis Biker Rally. I am so glad we did, I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are pretty much the same. If you have problems with stairs make sure you have the b...

We stayed here twice and found it great both times. The best rooms are on the second floor overlooking the river. You can fall asleep to the sound of the water flowing. Very pleasant to hear and pretty to see the Wind River out the window of your room. There is a pool and a hot tub as well on the property. Kids' jungle gym out back and picnic tables/grill. This is a quaint little town that rolls up the sidewalks at 9:00 except for a couple of bars, so be sure to either eat early or bring your own food!

A great and convenient stop on our way to Yellowstone. Dog friendly and fantastic location to walk around the little western town. Would plan this as my stopover anytime. Rooms are clean and comfortable for a small town motel.
