We stayed at Deer Forks Ranch for only one night and very much appreciated the owner's flexibility (usually you should stay for at least 2 nights). We had a lovely wooden cottage overlooking the property, and there were horses, sheep, goats, llamas, cats and dogs roaming the extensive grounds. The animals are all very friendly and one of the cats followed us around all the time. The owner kindly fixed a yummy dinner for us and we enjoyed learning more about WY country life firsthand. But the absolute highlight was an hour-and-a-half horseride with the owner's daughter and 7 dogs in our wake. The landscape was breathtaking and the horse adorable. I would love to come back! However, I would recommend to bring a good book because there is not always someone at the ranch, and it is very remote. A 4-wheel drive is recommended.
