We stayed at The Passage while on a vacation mixed with a day of business. When we first arrived we requested a room at the rear of the lodge so we had a view of the woods rather than the gravel parking lot. After ten minutes of "that's impossible," the person at the desk got us the room. When we went to the restaurant the first night the waitress threw some menus on the table and told us everything they didn't have available that night. She said if we could find anything to eat, we could stay, and walked off. The room was not cleaned while we were there. One morning we had 2 clean towels and a fresh bathmat. That was it. Trash was never emptied. There was a coffee pot in the room, but the coffee packets were never replaced as they were used. We requested an iron one evening and were told they couldn't get one until the next day. They said they would have it to us by 7;30. No one showed up. We definitely would not recommend this hotel to anyone. We did have some good meals at Bear Lodge as a result of our rude waitress at the Passage. The breakfast menu at Bear Lodge is great! The scenery in the Bighorn is amazing.

We stayed here in 2008 and enjoyed it so much we decided to return this year! We stayed in the new hotel and the beds are so comfortable. The pool was nice, the hot tub however, had a bad "fishy" smell. We enjoy the Burgess Junction area for fishing and hiking. We also enjoy seeing all of the elk and moose that roam through the area.

The passage resort was AWESOME! Our room was HUGE and spotless. The bed was large, soft, and comfy.

We had a room in the hotel part of the resort, not a cabin.

The people who work here are all very nice. We got to to a variety of activities, even horseback riding!!!

The only bad part about this resort was the resturant. When we got there I ordered salad and they were out of it?? Very weird. Then the waitress forgot to bring a variety of things to our table. We couldn't quite figure out if she was busy and stressed (although it was not very crowded) or just wasn't really concerned . . .

Overall I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel, but NOT the resturant.

My father and my two teenage girls were traveling home from the Great Lakes region and wanted to stay in a scenic location on the way home. We made reservations at The Passage Resort, traveled at least an hour off our course to stay in the beautiful Big Horn mountains! We were late in arriving -- but we called in advance and notified the desk clerk that we would be checking in late. We arrived at approx 9:30 pm and were given a cabin with 4 twin beds. When we got to our room, we discovered that two of the beds had balled up linens under the bedspreads - the beds had been slept in and the linens were dirty, had never been changed. The other two beds had at least been made...but we were unsure if they had been used and just made up, as the linens on those beds were very wrinkled too. We attempted to call the front desk; the clerk had gone to bed and was not answering the phone. We went to the lodge and it was locked up. Eventually, we left a message on the phone about what happened and ended up sleeping on the two possibly-clean beds (four people on two twin beds, what fun). Although we left a very detailed message, we never heard back from the front desk. Needless to say, we left very early the next morning. A terrible experience - would never return.

My boyfriend and I stayed here over President's Day weekend this winter while we were in the Big Horns snowmobiling. We only spent one night here, another in the campground of Bear Lodge and the final night in the hotel of Bear Lodge.

All I can say is this place is by far the best place on the mountain. We got a deal on the room and that's why we booked here. The room was immaculate. It was clean, spacious, smelled wonderfully.

We arrived before check in to drop our gear off and get ready to hit the mountains. They let us in the room, but it hadn't been cleaned yet. I wondered at that point what we were getting ourselves into. We changed and left and when we returned that evening it was clean, the bed were made and it was grand.

They do have a pool and spa, but we got there too late that night to enjoy it. I guess we spent too much time on the mountain riding! We were looking for some ice as we had packed some of our own food and found you had to go to the main building to get ice. The hotel part isn't connected to the lobby/check-in/restaurant/bar which may be an inconvenience for some people, but it wasn't for us. There isn't a whole lot of parking there, but then again, not much at Bear either.

Last year when I was on the mountain, we had spent a few hours at the Passage bar and it was snowing heavily. If a big storm is coming in, there is a chance you can't get out of the parking lot. You will know what I mean if you are up there around the middle of Feb. when they've had alot of snow. It drifts right into the driveway and causes major problems. Other than that, I would definitely stay here again. It was wonderful.

If your looking for a place to stay in the Big Horn mountains this is it!

We stayed at the Passage in July, what a pleasant surprise! The motel was still under construction but rooms were available. The rooms were very large with the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on. The pool was a nice amenity that my Grandchildren took advantage of. The people were extremely friendly, from Alex at the front desk to the owners. We had a chance to talk with Rich (one of the owners) he is genuinely concerned that you have a great stay. He also gave us a tour of the property. I can't say it enough of how friendly everyone was. My only worry is when more people find out that the Passage exists, that I will have a hard time reserving a room due to NO Vacancies.. My wife and I take at least 2 road trips a year and we both agree this is a great find. We found out that they rent snowmobiles in winter,ATV'S and jeep's in the summer. We plan to come back next summer and do some of the off road trails. One last thing to take note of, the Passage is at Burgess Junction not in Dayton.

Nice place, new motel so somethings still being finished. Rooms are big and cozy and I loved the new matresses, they were like pillow tops or something. Staff was mostly friendly and got all we asked, I reccommend the place
