We stayed in a cabin at Shoshone Lodge and Guest Ranch for the past two nights. It was a wonderful experience! The cabin was clean, the beds comfortable, and the bathroom well stocked with nice towels, soaps and shampoo. There is no cell service out there, but they do have wifi at the lodge. The staff at the lodge was ever so friendly and helpful. We did the breakfast horseback ride, and it was an experience of a lifetime! The views were absolutely breathtaking!!! The guides were so kind and friendly (one guided my youngest daughter's horse for her because she was very nervous) and the breakfast was yummy! We will definitely stay here again when we return to Yellowstone!

My wife and I (along with our 2 dogs) stayed at Shoshone lodge during the week of Memorial Day(May/June 2013) so we could easily access Yellowstone National Park. We were greeted by great front desk folks that were extremly helpful in telling us the property amenities and places we could hike/walk with our dogs around the property. The cougars rest cabin was great and we were so happy to be in one since it got down into the 30s at night with rain. The cabin was very clean with two double beds, satellite TV, mini-fridge, microwave and a hot shower. The cabin was definitely a pleasant surprise. The property is great with available horseback rides, a nightly campfire, on-site laundry and a restaurant with excellent prime rib on Saturdays (reserve a table early becuase it fills up quick with locals). All the food at the on-site restaurant was great, much better than in the national park restaurants (i.e., old faithful inn, mammoth area food... ugh!) The lodge is about 10-15 minutes from the East entrance of Yellowstone, so it's conveniently located near the entrance and in the middle of the major Yellowstone attractions (Old Faithful, Lamar Valley, Canyon Village area, West Thumb, Tower-Roosevelt areas, etc.). We would certainly recommend the Shoshone Lodge for anyone wanting to stay near Yellowstone, but not necessarily in the park. The drive to/from the park has great views of Yellowstone, it's not as crowded and a great drive to see wildlife (with very few others around). It's a great spot for dog owners!

Room Tip: Cougars Rest Cabin- no other cabins directly behind you, near one of the guest grills, great porch...

We didn't stay or eat here (thus the 4 and not 5 rating) but our horseback ride was beautiful. The kids and parents all enjoyed it. We went in 2012 and hope to do it again in 2013. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Keep in mind that a lot of cabins/lodges in the area are very small and rustic.

We stayed in one of the very cute log cabins here. The room had a fridge and microwave. The decor was in keeping with the cabin. The facilities in the bathroom were fine. The cabin was clean and comfortable. We ate in the restaurant on site. The staff were friendly and efficient and we enjoyed good food here. The following morning we took the breakfast trail-with our guide Jordan, we rode our horses up the mountain for a cowboy breakfast. The views of the mountains and Shoshone river were wonderful. An experience we were so glad not to have missed. All in all a very memorable stay, albeit for just one night as we were on our way to Yellowstone.

We stayed in a cabin here for 3 nights. The cabin had one queen size bed, sofa, small fridge and micowave. Perhaps it could have been a bit larger, but it was certainly adequate for us. The only issue, and it was fairly minor, was the shower. The shower recess was very small, and the shower head was mounted quite high, and it couldn't be pointed down enough, meaning that for me (just at just over 6 feet) it was fine, but for my wife who is 5ft 4in, the water went straight into her face. Somehow she managed! Other than that everything was fine.

We especially liked the restaurant, which was good value, and the 2 hour horse ride which was great fun. All the staff were very nice and friendly.

Friend and I travelled to Wyoming for a fall visit. Our favorite stop was Shoshone Lodge and cabins. The staff was friendly and helpful, everyone that works at the lodge helped to create a family-like atmosphere. Staff members brought out guitars in the evening and played and sang around the fire. Our cabin was clean and comfortable. Loved our front porch where one could enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning or glass of wine in the evening. The lodge restaurant puts out good food. I look forward to returning and spending more time here.
