“Excellent lodge/restaurant for family near East Yellowstone entrance”
Reviewed June 22, 2011

We loved this lodge the first step we took into the main cabin building. Very rustic and the owner was behind the counter with a smile on his face, great attitude and personally walked us to our large log cabin. The grounds are "western", with a great lodge/restaurant, multiple fireplaces, great room with expected animal furs decorating the walls, outside firepit with fire as we finished our excellent homemade dinner at fair prices, and a rushing creek on the east side of the property that provided a relaxing water sound at night and morning. The owner actually gave my 2 daughters marshmellows, wire sticks and everything needed for s'mores. Horses/horse stable on site and our family of 4 went on an hour ride with excellant guides. Everyone very personable, very large cabins, great grounds and horses, plus a fake bull with cowboy rope for the kids to practice roping. Fun, fun, fun, and did I say great homemade food...try the trout and pie!

Shoshone Lodge is a series of cabins located just 3 miles from the East Entrance of Yellowstone. We stayed in cabin #17 (Camp Jonathan). On the website the cabins are listed by name, they refer to them by number while you are there. My wife and I were out west for a dog event and decided to extend our stay and visit Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. I contacted Shoshone Lodge about their dog policy. Mike replied that we could leave the dogs crated in the room, not only that but they would have someone walk the dogs for us. No extra charge for the walk above the $10 per day per dog fee. This was a huge relief to me. I worried about leaving the dog while we walk around. The cabin was nice for us. We had a queen bed, refrigerator and microwave. The two dog crates fit nicely under the windows. One thing was there was no real drawer space, wasn’t a big deal for us just an observations. The bathroom didn’t have much counter space was the only other quirk. I checked about getting ice and was told just ask at the front desk and they’ll give you what you need. No TV or phones in the room. There is a TV in the main lodge as well as a computer with internet access. There is also wireless access but since my laptop died I wasn’t able to check that out. There is a phone you can use at the lodge anywhere in the US free of charge. Nice touch. The restaurant was very good. The bacon was the best I’ve ever had. I was told it was a local brand. The staff was always friendly and helpful. When you arrive they explain the setup to you, walk you to your cabin, show you around, point out hiking trials. They tell you if you are going to hike they will give you bear spray. The have horses and provide rides, we didn’t have time for that so I can’t comment on them. It was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend the place. I’m adding picture of the area as well as the interior of the room. I will also upload a video.

After a long drive it was wonderful to be welcomed by the extraordinary staff who were always willing to answer a question or just provide some facts about Yellowstone. The staff went out of their way to make you feel comfortable and right at home. The lodge is located about 2 miles from the East Entrance to Yellowstone, but the address says Cody which is a little deceiving since Cody is a looong way down the road. There is free internet in the main lodge, but the service is spotty. We took a horseback ride into the mountains with great views and a wonderful guide who took it slow and was very attentive. Our cabin was one bedroom with rustic decor and a very clean bath room with everything we needed. Their is no food near by but the restaurant in the main lodge has delicious food at a reasonable price and the service was wonderful. At night they light a bond fire and it was wonderful to sit an relax by the warmth of the fire. I would definitely recommend staying here while visiting Yellowstone. It was our most favorite place we stayed during our trip!

Located very close to the East entrance to Yellowstone. We stayed for two nights. We had a two room cabin that was very clean. The staff was warm and friendly. There is nothing else close by for dinner, but that was not a problem as the food at Shoshone was very good and very reasonably priced. We did not get back to the lodge until 8pm each night and thankfully the restaurant was still open. Don't miss the pie for dessert. Breakfast was an exception value. The pancakes are huge and plentiful. One order easily serves two. There is no telephones in the rooms, but you are welcome to use the phone at the main lodge. Very rustic looking, but with all the necessary amenities. We enjoyed seeing the dog sleeping on the front porch as we pulled up our first day. Cabins with rocking chairs on the porch and a firepit to enjoy toasted marshmallows. Way better than staying at a chain hotel. We look forward to staying at the Shoshone Lodge when we pass through the area again.

This was our second visit to Shoshone Lodge and from the second we walked up to the lodge and were greeted with a warm, friendly welcome, we felt as though we had come home. I cannot say enough about how warm and friendly the staff are here and the general atmosphere of the place is amazing. Situated very close to the east gate of Yellowstone, you are staying in the mountains and feel so close to nature; after a day in the park it is a wonderful drive back to the Lodge, which is all part of the experience.

We stayed in Cabin Creek this time; it is a wonderful, cozy and comfortable cabin with a great bathroom which looks brand new. Everything is spotlessly clean but with a rustic theme which compliments the area.

The lodge itself is great with a fantastic restaurant that serves good food at reasonable prices; they also have an area to relax in front of a warm fire and chat with other guests. They have games available to play and there is a computer with internet access for guests use.

We hope to come back again soon - this is a place you just never want to leave!!

My husband & I stayed at the Shoshone for 3 nights in early September. We stayed in Cabin Creek which was small but just fine for the two of us. The bathroom was tiny, but super cute. We did not get to enjoy the horses, due to weather, but we did get snow. We ate in the restaurant each night & was not disappointed - nothing gourmet, but so much better than a lot of the food in Yellowstone. Overall we enjoyed the Shoshone it is rustic and little bit out of the way, but a good deal for your money in the Yellowstone area.

Staff was so nice and friendly! This is a lodge which has been in the family for 4 generations, and it shows what great pride they take in having a wonderful experience for their guests! The "room" was a cabin with a single bed, microwave, fridge, and beautiful bathroom with jetted tub! The bathroom looked almost brand new! We ate there a few times and the food was wonderful and reasonably priced. The best part was the horse riding trip for 2 hours, which was also reasonably priced and an AMAZING experience! I would go back here with extended family and with my own family again and again! About 3 miles from the East entrance of Yellowstone and 45 minutes to an hour away from the lake area. It was nice to be a little farther away from all of the traffic and other tourists!
