Best Western Sunset Inn

The Sunset Motor Inn by Best Western was clean, comfortable, and quiet. I took the advice of a few others and requested a room to the back of the courtyard and slept with the window open to the cool air, and there was no road noise to disturb us. The room had a fridge, microwave, King size bed, smaller tube TV, and was perfectly adequate for the 1 night we stayed.

Room Tip: Rooms to the back of the courtyard are quiet.

The description in the AAA Tour Book does not correspond to reality. The complex consists of 350 ground floor level units. Though it was sparsely occupied we were lodged in the 350th one, way back on the property. Nice room, typically BW, clean, good bed. The restaurant attached to the motel is excellent at reasonable prices. It was full of locals indicating quality food. The free BF provided sufficient variety to please anyone. Close to Buffalo Bill’s Museum (very interesting individual) and about 15 minutes from the Heart Mountain WWII Japanese Internment Camp where 14,000 souls were “housed” until the end of 1945 (A must see). Majority of the young men of this camp joined the famous 442 Regiment, the most decorated in the US Army.

This is a motel in typical motel style but it's quite large so the breakfast room was always crowded when we went in on each of the three days we were there. We never got a seat so gave up on the hot items and collected juice, yoghurt and cereal and took it back to our room. The room had a fridge, microwave and coffeemaker so we sorted out our own breakfast. The overcrowding wasn't helped by the guy who sat at a breakfast table with his computer! Talking about computers, their wifi connection was being upgraded so it was impossible to keep in touch with family from the room so you had to use the computer in the lounge area. Complaints were heard about this. Our king room was large, clean and well equipped, there is a good laundry and a swimming pool. We tried to use several of the vending machines but they weren't filled up while we were there so some items weren't available. You can walk to the wonderful Buffalo Bill museum, eating places and shops so we felt it was in a good location. The place was okay but we felt we could have done better elsewhere for the money and we have certainly had better rooms for less but perhaps it's that price because it's Cody and it's a very popular place to visit.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the road.

This is a clean and friendly spot to stay, and across the street from the Sierra Trading Post outlet. Just a few blocks from the outstanding Buffalo Bill Museum, and a little farther to the charming downtown area.
Great indoor pool, and the outdoor pool was just opening although it was a little too breezy for us to try it.

Room Tip: rooms in the back are very quiet

We spent 1 snowy night in Cody on our way to yellowstone. (that's what we get for traveling over Memorial day!)This Best Western was clean, quiet and comfortable. The room had a nice TV, small fridge and microwave. It's a short 2 blocks from the Buffalo Bill Museum (highly recommend) and Visitor Center. Our room was at the back of their property, so I can't speak to whether the rooms near the main road were noisy. We did not do their breakfast, however right next door is the Sunset Diner and we had a nice breakfast there. We also got 20% off since we were staying at the Best Western.
