We chose this hotel early on in our planning due to good feedback on this site and a reasonable rate. If you booked before the end of April, you got a 20% discount, if I remember correctly. We paid $126 per night for a room with 2 logpole queen beds, microwave, fridge, and free continental breakfast.
We arrived before the 3 p.m. check-in time, and unfortunately, our room was not ready. The desk clerk was very accomodating and gave us a map of the area and made several dining recommendations. He checked us in but couldn't give us our room keys. He said we could return around 3 p.m. and would be able to get our keys. In the meantime, we went to the local Walmart for supplies. We were able to check in by 3:15 p.m. We asked for a first floor room, as there is no elevator, and our request was pleasantly honored. The housekeeping staff actually gave us our keys and apologized for the slight delay. We found all the staff very professional.
Upon entering the room, we were quite pleased with our findings. The room was very clean and modern and had a great rustic ambiance. The logpole beds provided an old west feel despite modern touches. The mattresses and pillows were the most comfortable of our 10 day trip by far.
The facility also has an outdoor pool, indoor hot tub, laundry, and fitness center. Our daughter only swam briefly, as it was stormy both days we were there. A computer with internet access is located in the lobby.
The hotel is very convenient to all Cody attractions including the Buffalo Bill Historical Center and rodeo. We could be back to our hotel in no more than 10 minutes.
The continental breakfast was pretty well stocked with the usual carbs including English muffins, bagels, cereal, juice, and toast. Virginia, the morning desk clerk, did a great job manning the front desk and breakfast area. She was quick to wipe down tables and keep things well stocked, while checking people out. She was definitely a multi-tasker.
The breakfast area does get crowded, so you might have to wait for a table or take your breakfast back to your room. We had a small table and chairs in our room.
Several reviews on this site reveal this is a "noisy" hotel with thin walls. I have to agree that you do hear doors slamming and loud children (and adults, for that matter) easily. Although it was the most comfortable hotel we stayed in, it was also the noisiest. However, it wasn't that bad for us, as we were up early ready to tackle the day. The noise factor would not deter me from staying here. If you are looking for a place to sleep in, this probably isn't it. However, to me, the comfort level and amenities more than made up for the noise.
I would recommend this facility to anyone looking for a modern hotel with several amenities close to Cody attractions.
