“La Cominda a good place to eat”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 11, 2013

Aftre eating at many of the local cafes here in cody after moving here from Utah 4 months ago I find many of the reviews for this resturaunt and many others disturbing to say the least. I have eatan here on many occasions and find the food good, plentiful, and reasonable. the Service has always been fast, freindly, and prompt. I havce eaten in mexican resturaunts from texas to arizona, montana and everywher inbetween. thios resturant is average for the experiences that I have had.

The negative comments that have been written about this and other resturants are in most cases in very bad taste to say the least. This comes from, in my opinion, the total negeative vibes from the population in generel - if you dont like it find a way to destroy it!!!!

Many of the comments indicate that this is not "authentic" mexican food. Just what is "authentic" mexican food anyway? The only true ones would be the food that was used by the Aztecs. Mayans,Omlec, and the other 100's of native trbes in the area. The mexican ffod that we eat today has been influenced by Africa, middle easter cultures, spain, france, and many other countries. In fact there are very big regional differences in the spice pallette of the food across the regions of the US.

In closing I have talked to many "locals" and they would recommend this resturant for a night out.,

Again let me state again that I find many of the negative comments here very disturbing and hateful.

“Decent meal, lousey service!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

We went to lunch mid afternoon, long after the lunch rush and at the end of tourist season in Cody and it took 10 min. of standing by the cash register for anyone to even come up with a greeting. They advertise free refills on drinks but it's hard to catch your waiter or waitress to achieve that. Food was ok and fit the price, restaurant was nice and clean, nicely decorated, and great outdoor patio. chips and salsa were stingy (small dixie salad dressing sized salsa container) - chips out of a bag, salsa out of a jar. When you can go across the street for homemade chips and salsa, the store bought stuff stands out.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. There is no excuse for having to wait like you did and I apologize.
I would love to make fresh chips, but we just do not have the room for the equipment needed for such an undertaking. We do make our own salsa and anyone is more than welcome to as much of it as they would want. We use the small cups just to reduce waste - you would not believe how much gets thrown away.

“Don't let the patio and location fool you.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 31, 2013

Cold beer and patio were nice. The food was the worst ever! Guacamole was fake, beans cold, and stale chips. We ordered a Mexican Pizza with shaved "rib-eye steak" received ground beef. The waitress stated, that is how it's on the menu. We asked her to please double check her menu, we were right. The second time around we received some kind of boiled shredded beef in a very sweet BBQ sauce. Promptly paid bill and left. After looking at other bad reviews, I'm sure the "general manager" is going to have something rude to say. Maybe they should listen to their feedback and care about their customers.

Make it very noisy at this restaurant. Service was not so good. I had to find the server to pay the bill. Food was so so. Wouldn't eat there again.

“Ok food, not the greatest service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2013

I hesitated for a second to write a review, seeing as the manager of this place would rather make sarcastic and condescending remarks to reviewers where as replies from management would should typically be an apology at minimum, and maybe a comment or two around efforts to improve/hoping they will come back.
That aside, we had dinner at this establishement and the ambience is nice. The entrees were good, comparable to chili's.
The service wan't very good. The waitress was clearly disappointed when ONE child (were were a party of 8) wanted only fries. Sorry if my kid is a vegetarian lady. Sheesh. Next, we found out they refuse to split the bill - ridiculous! And they automatically added an 18% gratuity. We gladly tip generously, around 20%, when the service is good, even when it's poor or mediocre we tip at least 10% but to automatically add gratuity? We'll not eat here again.
