We just happened to see this as we drove to Cody. It definitely is worth a quick stop. No fee and they have a little golf cart shuttle from the parking lot to the visitor center. Lots of information about building the dam (which was the highest in the US before the Hoover Dam). Very interesting. We're glad we stopped.

We stopped along the way from Yellowstone to Cody, Wy. You park near by and they take you via golf cart if the walk is too far for you. The guides answered questions and explained the history of the dam.

Admire this engineering marvel for a few moments while driving through this area. While you can't go in the actual dam for a tour, they have an audio tour available for $3. Admission to the visitor center is free and there is a lot of interesting information and some tourist gifts. Snap a couple pictures of the reservoir and turn around to see the impressive drop on the other side of the dam. Allow about 30 minutes to go through everything and picture taking.

Beautiful setting, but water level getting rather low. Seemed to have nice rev facilities and other accommodations for logging around it.

Enjoyed stopping in and looking at the dam and small museum/visitor's center. Amazing to think it was the tallest dam until Hoover was built. Gives you vertigo looking down.
