“A welcome respite from the crowded park”

What a pleasure to find this lodge. Wonderfully run by Debbie and Kevin. Great steaks, clean cabins, and good company all around. It's a yellowstone experience you will remember and enjoy.
very helpful about the history of the Shoshones the park and wildlife. Very comfortable and a world better than staying at yellowstone hotel. A great location and stay.

Room Tip: Look them over and pick what you like, or chose the larger rooms and have no doubts.

Location was great, service was great and the cabins were very quaint. We had a nice time talking to Kevin & Debbie, they seemed interested in us not just because they had to be. We ate a couple meals there, the food was good but in my opinion a bit over priced. All and all our stay was nice, accommodations nice, and very fairly priced.

Room Tip: We were in number 4, it was great.

Only 11 miles from Yellowstone it is located in beautiful scenery. Many of the cabins are listed on National Register of Historic Places.

The cabins are small but cozy and clean.

The dining room decor was lovely and the food was all home made and delicious.

The cabin and food were a good value compared to prices in Yellowstone.

We hope we get the opportunity to return to this lodge.

Room Tip: We were in the Dakota Cabin with a stone fireplace - #7

Beautiful Setting very close to Yellowstone Park. Proprietors Kevin and Debbie were wonderful. The staff was very friendly. The food was great, prepared with fresh ingredients. We stayed in cabin 7. I gave it 4 stars not 5 because our cabin had too many furnishings. There was little space in which to move around and the housekeeping can be better. Overall a great place to stay. A Bison and a family of deer came to visit us! I would stay again.

This cabins only property is located just outside the eastern entrance to Yellowstone and made a convenient stop before heading into the park. Our cabin was VERY small, but had a queen bed. There is a real lack of space to put your "things" while you're staying and we felt like we were tripping over one another trying to get anything done. We've been married 36 years, but this place has NO privacy for bathroom activity. The dining room served some outstanding food for both dinner and breakfast, with great views to go with your meals.

Room Tip: Get a larger cabin if you can afford it.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Elephant Head Lodge is a small AAA log-cabin mountain resort located just 11.7 miles East of Yellowstone National Park and 40 miles west of Cody, WY. The lodge and most of our cabins are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It gets its name from a rock formation overlooking it. The Lodge, Restaurant, and the "Trapper" cabin were built in 1910 by Buffalo Bill Cody's niece, Josephine Thurston, and her husband Harry W. Thurston. Harry chose the site for its dependable water for early travelers to Yellowstone - and for trappers and Indians. Our small lodge is a wonderful base for touring the Yellowstone National Park, Cody, and the Shoshone National Forest. It is a great place for horseback riding, relaxing, fishing, hiking, and viewing wildlife, as well as good homecooked meals, with homemade bread, soups, and desserts, as well as famous homemade cinnamon rolls. Cabin rates vary depending on size (house 2-8 people per cabin)& accommodations (some with kitchenettes). High season rates Memorial-Labor Day $153-356/night. Low season rates May & September until early October $137-320/night. All with bath(s) & non-smoking. ... more   less
