We stopped at this motel on our way back from Yellowstone. We were exhausted at around 11:00 pm and found no other motels with vacancy expect this one, and now I now why they have vacancies! This ogre was rude from the time we walked through the door. He asked how many people in the party and I told him 3 in one party and 4 in the other. Two separate rooms were needed. We also seen that they did not allow pets and we had two dogs in which we were totally intending on leaving in the truck in their kennels. At the point of stating we had two dogs, he THREW his pen on the counter and stepped back and said "I guess were done here! No dogs are allowed on MY property!" I tried to explain that we were not intending on bringing them into the room and he rudely interrupted me and said we don't have any rooms for you. We drove another couple of hours that night until we found another motel in another city that indeed had hospitality. This jerk really has no business what so ever being in a business that deals with people day to day everyday! I really hope this motel closes down before he pulls a gun on someone. He definitely needs anger management classes!

Not much to say...they were the last hotel in cody with a vacancy...turned us away because we were in an RV. We explained that only 2 of us would be using the room and that the RV would be parked at WalMart. We've been on the road for 5 nights stayed in a hotel every night. No problems...even paid for extra showers at one place. He was terribly rude, even ignored us at first, said he didnt want people in and out using his hot water...last motel with a vacancy...ya think?

They were doing a remodel of the front lobby when we booked one of their "new" rooms during a roadtrip in late June / early July 2010. I put that aside & figured that they may have just finished some rooms and were offering good rates on their rooms while the lobby was being remodeled. The owner was a bit grouchy but I figured it was midnight & he may have had a long day with the remodel. You may have noticed that I put the new in quotes up above, it's because their definition of new and anyone else on earth's definition of new is apparently different. Whether the slim chance the rooms were built last fall, as claimed or not is irrelevant because any part that the guest touched - the bed, sheets, comforter, pillows, linens, towels, etc - all looks like it was obtained used from an old Motel 6. Extra lumpy, uneven pillows, a terrible bedspread, scratchy sheets, the list goes on.

The room wasn't the worst part though. After we checked our room out, I went to the desk to make sure that it was one of the "new" ones, as we'd been told we were getting. The owner got terribly confrontational. He said very offensively & completely uncaring that we were paying $100 to sleep in his bed for the next 6 or 8 hrs, "Yeah, that's a new room. We just made them last fall. What's wrong with it? It should be clean, nobody stayed there last night. What's wrong with it? It's clean, I know that." At this point I had enough of his attitude and told him that we'd like a refund, we were going to stay elsewhere (like, in our car). He rudely huffed out to the room, was rude to my wife and we left. We've stayed in dumpy motels, that wasn't the problem. The problem was the owner's terrible attitude which quite literally put a damper on our trip. We enjoyed Cody tremendously during our stay, I'm pretty sure everyone but one person in town is very nice, helping & just a good person.

It's hard to believe that in today's bad economy & with the prevalence of TripAdvisor that an innkeeper would / could be so rude & flat out lie to a potential customer. Quite literally the only thing that could have made our experience with the Grizzly worse was if we were robbed while there or left with bedbugs, it was that bad. If TripAdvisor had negative ratings, I would give it to them. By all means, stay elsewhere, even if it means driving for another hour or sleeping in your car outside Yellowstone, at least then you'll wake up surrounded by nature's beauty!

I'm sure that they'll have other "guests" (a term used lightly because they're probably friends / relatives) review their establishment but this is an honest review from a regular etraveler. There's so many great options in Cody, choose one of them to give your vacation dollar to
