Summer trip to visit Cody Wyoming, 2012. We were on our family holiday thru the U.S.A. this year and one of our stops was The Cody Dug Up Gun Museum. I am a history buff and thought that this would be a cool place to check out. We were met at the front by a nice young lady who took us around the museum. I was very impressed with the quality of the displays and info cards that go with almost every item on display. It wasn't just old guns. It was a tour of the history of guns and many interesting stories that went along with the guns and other items. it was an over all great experience for the cost of a donation. i highly recommend a stop to the dug up gun museum. It was awesome!

This museum was so great to visit, we had to go back! Once in May another time in September. Fasinating history and, Hans and Eva, the owners, are the greatest people! A must see for anyone interested in old guns, just as the where found...dug up! Some are still loaded! Makes you wonder about what happened to the guns owner...The price of admission is a donation, but you will be amazed! A great place to visit and a big plus for the city of Cody! See you guys again in Sept. 2013 for the Princes visit!

I didn't think I'd go to another gun museum after going to the Buffalo Bill Center, but this place is really something special. It's very easy to miss since it is on a side street off the main drag in Cody. But the glass cases full of guns tell so many great stories, and Hans really knows his stuff. Most of the items here are completely rusted out, or have butts missing, but they are still loaded and one can only imagine that the cocked guns were held by someone who may not have drawn quick enough. I always enjoy seeing artifacts that have been dug from the ground, but seeing other personal affects along with the guns put kind of an eerie, end of life spin on them. It's so great to see such passion about a subject, and we thank Hans and his wife for entertaining us during our visit. Oh yes, and their adorable dog, too!

The Dug Up Gun Museum is a quick stop while in Cody, especially if you're interested in firearms. Takes about 30-45 minutes to see all the displays. A donation is requested. I'm not especially intrigued by firearms, but found the museum to be quite interesting.
