Nice, nice, nice! This is the 2nd time we've stayed at The Irma for New Years Eve. The first was in 2008. We are frequent visitors to The Irma for meals and drinks in the bar and restaurant. The food is always delicious and the service is always great, too. The Oysters Rockefeller in the buffet is fantastic and I don't like oysters! The room last year was in the new part of the hotel. True, it was a little noisy being near the ice machine and kitchen but not terribly and didn't interfere with sleep. Our room this year was in the old part of the hotel. The room was wonderful! The beds were very comfortable, the room, hallways and hotel were clean (as usual) and the antique furniture was lovely. There was no view, true, as we were at the back of the original hotel and it was added on to at the back, but we didn't go to look out the windows. The claw foot tub in the bath was wonderful and we liked the vintage furniture, old-fashioned radiators, antique wardrobe, pull-up blinds and pull-chain toilet. Just make sure the arm of the water closet is in the down position! We stayed in a reportedly haunted room, but sadly, nothing transpired. There was a digital alarm clock, a working phone and a flat screen TV in the room. We will be staying again next New Years Eve, this time maybe at the front or sides of the hotel. We'd like to eventually stay in each of the historic rooms!

The room we stayed in was one of the 'historic' rooms. I guess that means they put some cowboys name on the door. We didn't see any of the other rooms. It was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The 'water closet' , the radiator, and the old desk and dresser were the only things in the room that looked authentic. The bedspreads were heavy damask. The heater was your typical hotel heater and was very noisy. There was a flat screen TV and the view was a brick wall. Because of the heavy snow that night we were almost forced to stay a second night. The only bad thing was that we had to carry our bags up 2 flights of stairs and there were no luggage carts or elevators.

Thank God, we only stayed for one night at Buffalo Bill's historic Irma Hotel at Cody, Wyoming. Unfortunately we got a room with a view onto a brick-lined wall at arm's lenght and adjacent to the restaurant kitchen. The kitchen's rattling air conditioning - or whatever that rusty funnel near our window served for - run nearly all the time. At 4.45am the kitchen crew began noisy breakfast preparations and terminated our sleep for good.

Our room contained old-fashioned smelly furniture but was not situated in the historic wing of the Hotel. The overall cleanliness was ok but fixtures in the bath could need an overhaul.

The Irma is reputedly haunted by a ghost which failed to appear - presumably it was too loud...

Dh and I ate here a few weeks ago. The hotel is lovely; full of history and rustic charm. The dining room was especially neat to see, with the bison heads and the bar.

Food was very good, too. We ordered off the menu since it was only 4:00 pm, and the buffet didn't start for an hour. Both of us had the prime rib, which was excellent. I ended up regretting that I didn't get the buffet though; as we were leaving they were just bringing out the food for it (including the all-you-can eat prime rib), and it looked sooooo good!
