After visiting the restored train depot in Omaha, Nebraska I had expectations that let myself down. Although this is a small museum and the fee is small to get in, it appears that some of the items were not actually items from the Union Pacific but items that had been crafted and created by someone. Yes, they did have items that depicted the life of the Union Pacific it was a little disappointing.

Would definitely recommend going up to the second floor though and view the amazing setup of the HO trains.

I went here on a whim and was thouroghly impressed. The history of the Union Pacific railroad and the building of the transcontinental railroad have always fascinated me. The museum is small, but they do not charge much to get in. I recommend anyone here go upstairs and see the HOn3 display they have there. It is a recreation of the railroad that served the Colorado gold rush at the turn of the last century. Very detailed and very impressive albeit a work in progress still. If you have any interest in trains, this is definately worth your time.

Stopped here on our way to Railfest 2012 in North Platte, Nebraska. The depot museum had a lot of information and artifacts to show off. We really enjoyed seeing these. On the second floor, though, they have acquired a large model railroad and are putting it together. Not all is in working order yet, but what is working is great! It is an amazing layout. The museum adjoins the railroad station, which is in very good condition. There is also a small shop, with very friendly ladies running the place. If we are back in this area, we will be sure to stop by again and see if the railroad model is finished.

This is a small museum but worth stopping if you are in the area with an extra hour. It shows the history of the railroad yard in Cheyenne as well as general steam engine information.

Cost was $6 per adult (don't know about kids) but I don't mind supporting a small museum. It was worth the stop.
