“overrated drive”
Reviewed December 31, 2012

Yeah, it was pretty, but there are a lot of beautiful drives in the area. If you are there, fine, but don't go out of your way.

“Great little Bar & Grill”
Reviewed November 21, 2012

About 5 miles west on Happy Jack Road is a roadside bar/grill, which is very good food, fast service, and cool decorations to enjoy.

“Scenic biker route in Wyoming”
Reviewed November 13, 2012

The Happy Jack Road connects Cheyenne with Laramie, and passes the beautiful Curt Gowdy State Park and the Vedauwoo mountains. Instead of taking the I- 80, take Happy Jack to experience some of the real Wild West, at an altitude up to 2.500 meters above sea level. The prairie has its own beauty and at a clear night you can see all the way from the heights at Lincoln Memorial to Cheyenne. The scenic, winding Happy Jack is much fun for a biker!

“Beautiful”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

This is a great way in and out of Cheyenne. If you are going to Laramie, take this road - if you don't mind some dirt road action, you can cut across from Happy Jack through Vidauwoo park, which is beautiful.

“The only way to Laramie.”
Reviewed October 25, 2012

Beautiful drive. Have done it many times. I suggest you stop at Curt Gowdy State Park and/or Vedauwoo (Indian name) for a picnic or lunch if you can.

Also, the summit has the Lincoln memorial and if you are a history buff take a short drive to the Ames monument as well. In all candor though these all (except Curt Gowdy) can be accessed via the Interstate - which is not nearly as pleasant a drive -just 20 minutes or so faster.

One last very serious note: DO NOT take this route in Winter if there is even a hint of snow or ice in the forecast. Stick to the Interstate, the summit has it's own weather patterns.
