Owner description: You don't want to miss the new three story conservatory! It opened in August 2017. The Grand Conservatory features a tropical conservatory, a Navy submarine periscope, and several areas of respite. The Cheyenne Botanic Gardens is Wyoming’s only botanic garden. It exists in one of the most challenging gardening climates in the lower 48 states (high winds, regular hail, high altitude, little winter snow cover and unpredictable first and last frosts). Come explore our brand new Grand Conservatory as well as 27 specialty landscapes, where senior, youth and handicapped volunteers provide a majority of the physical labor. This is also home to Engine 1242, the oldest locomotive engine in Wyoming.

“Great hideaway”

Love walking through the Botanic Gardens outside in the summer. It is so well maintained--truly beautiful. Very peaceful with its meandering walkways, wetlands areas and stroll by the lake. Great place for pictures and events as well.

“Relaxing and enjoyable”
Reviewed September 13, 2012 via mobile

Cheyenne's quiet spot. This part of Cheyenne's largest city park is well worth enjoying. Some picnic tables are scattered amoung the grounds. Restrooms nearby. The greenhouse has a wonderful variety of plants, herbs, trees and a fish ponds both indoor and out. The building is open year round. Outside there are walking trails among rose gardens and beauitfully laid out grounds. Across the small street is a fenced area called the Children's Village which is out of this world. Turn the kids loose to discover nature, experiment with wind & water, do craft activities and explore hands on science. There's sceduled activities throughout the summer months for the kid-o's too. And don't forget to locate the Hidden Garden! Side note: the staff are volunteers who are kind, helpful and always smiling. Bliss in old Cheyenne.

We enjoyed strolling around the gardens, but we were especially impressed with the Children's Garden. Our grandchildren would have loved it! Good job Cheyenne!
