“Cabins are a rip-off during Cheyenne Frontier Days”
Reviewed August 17, 2010

DO NOT waste your money during Frontier Days. They double the price, and refuse to give refunds. We paid almost $200/night for Cabin #1. I realize we were staying on a ranch but the infestation of flies was ridiculous and could have been prevented. The screens did not fit properly and the flies came in faster than we could swat them. We wanted someplace where we could make our own food, but it was nearly impossible to eat with flies buzzing us. Terrible sleeping conditions as well with flies all about. Staff was not helpful: did not answer the after-hours phone number, and basically said "Too bad". Mangement offered a free nights stay. Would I stay here again: Never.

A nice place, needs updating seems to be sliding back. The food was good service was lousy. Not the server's fault. Took a long time for 5 burgers to come out and they weren't very busy for a Sunday Afternoon.
The American flag was is very sad shape, I told the staff about it. Hopefullly they either take it down or renew it. If you aren't going to fly the flag properly then DON'T FLY IT I understand the wind issue out here but no excuse to fly a badly tatter flag. The stripes were only 1/2 there. and only hung by one gromet Painting one on a barn would be a better idea . Would I go back...not in the near future.

Water has a horri stench an foul taste that overwhelmed my inline filter almost immediately.

After 2 system flushes , I am on my 3rd new $28.00 filter in as many days , guess I will need bottled water for a while.

Would have been nice if the staff h warne us...I had plenty of good clean water on board for our short and as it turns out VERY EXPENSIVE stay. :(

We were staying in Denver for vacation and decided to drive the 90 miles north to experience a real Bison Ranch and of course to see WY. We stayed in Cabin number 1, which was very clean, but had a strong odor of....? Hey, it's a Bison Ranch, and we weren't paying to stay at the Ritz!
We went on a trail ride (horses were nice and slow, lol) and took a bus tour of the Bison. Neat experience.
The Senator's Restaurant had a very authentic Saloon feel, and we both enjoyed our meals (he had a Bison steak, Ribeye I think, and I had a Bison burger).
The people that live and work on the ranch were so very very nice, and very hospitable. If you're looking for a 4-star hotel, this is not the place for you. But if you're looking for authentic mid-west feel, don't mind "roughing it" a little, then you and your family will love this place.
I'd go again. ;-)

  • Disliked — The flies....and the natural smell of a Bison Ranch....lol

Stayed in a cabin here for one night during Frontier Days. Competence of staff is decidedly mixed, but we loved our cabin (all of them overlook a meadow where the bison graze- great view!). Just 10 min to the rodeo- very convenient location. Good meal at their restaurant; friendly and experienced staff there. Don't go for the fishing; the "lake" is a very small pond. The kids loved the one-hour Bus tour of the ranch. RV Park at the ranch looks far less appealing than the cabins; the spaces are crowded together, no views, no trees, very old and worn-out play structure for the kids.

  • Liked — Cabin location
  • Disliked — Loud RV campers nearby and freeway noise

They need some better employees. They are very friendly but not real bright. Food was ok but very very slow. One waitress for the entire dinning room and she informed us there was only one cook also. Chicken coop was discusting, one big rooster had the little roosters bleeding. All the fences need mending. All the animal pens need a good cleaning. Flies of course all over. I was very discussed and will never go back unless they do some majoring cleaning and renovating. The train was just a big joke. The driver did feed the animals along the way so we could take pictures of the poor mangy looking things.
