This hotel is not for everyone. It is a truly historic hotel, not an old hotel that has been modernized to look like a Hilton. It has the charms and the quirks and foibles of an old building, but with amenities like a fridge, coffee maker, and microwave.
This is not a place for a one night stay, as the basic rooms can be very small and over priced.
But for an extended stay, the parlors and suites are excellent and a good value. The beds are very comfortable and the spacious sitting areas have plenty of room on the easy chairs and sofa for a family to sit and talk or watch TV. You can hold a small business meetings in these rooms.
The staff is friendly and helpful. There is some street noise--but not much after 10:00.
The downtown location is very good.
