Talked with the people at the desk for a while and got info on Caspar for my husband whose aunt lived there when she was little. Visited the fort which was one of the best furnished ones I've visited (with authentic items). Bought great stuff from the gift shop (including one flower "pressing" by a local artist).

This was a spur of the moment visit as we were headed to the Little Big Horn. Admission was $3 per person $2 for kids and is a nicely reconstructed fort that teaches you a lot about how it was to live back then. You walk the grounds and see the quarters for the soldiers and officers. A tipi is also there for you to climb into, but if you are over 6 feet tall, duck! Very nice experience.

This is a reconstruction of a military post which was located on the North Platte River - an important crossing for the various trails heading west. Self guided tour.

Inside the museum there are sections on Guns, the Plains Indians, the oil and gas industry and agriculture in Wyoming.

Don't let the outside deter you from visiting. Only $3.00 admission. Activities for kids available.

We visited with our children. They have a kids activity oodles to complete, which kept them interested. It is only $3 for adults and free for children under 12 - great value. There is the museum to look around inside nd recreated buildings outside.
