“Great Place to Visit during a Casper stop”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

The place that became Casper was an important crossing on the Oregon Trail. History buffs will enjoy the multimedia story of the trails that converged here. Visitors may cross the North Platte in a wagon, ride a stage coach, or pull a Mormon handcart for example. Talks and demonstrations happen on a regular basis.

“Excellent, Thought-provoking Experience!!”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

The Trails Center gives an excellent overview of each of the trails and the people who came across on them, and has interactive displays for people as well. For example, in the Oregon Trail area, you can ride in a wagon that simulates crossing a river, and in the Mormon Trail area, there is a handcart you can pull that is hooked up to a treadmill and a speed indicator. It shows you how hard and fast you had to pull in order to cover the amount of trail you would need to in one day. My husband (who is in great physical shape) pulled it for two minutes and said, “I don’t think I’d last an hour in that thing!” (I tried it, but my sandals wouldn’t grip the treadmill to make it go.) I think this is one of the best Museums/Interpretive Centers I’ve ever been to – really well thought out, interesting and very interactive. It really left us thinking - about all those people and the place they have in our own history.

“Interactive display of history”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

Mostly self guided but with knowledgeable staff to help with any information, this museum depicting the move west through the five trails that crossed the Casper area (Oregon, Bridger, Mormon, California, Pony Express) brings it all to life. Try dragging a Mormon handcart. Cross the North Platte River in a covered wagon. Listen to Indian tales. It's all here. This is not an attraction to be missed.

“Best attaction in Casper!”
Reviewed July 26, 2013

This place tells the story of the westward expansion of America. It's incredibly well done, a real gem. The have many tour guides who are eager to answer any questions and several hands on exhibits. If you only had time for one thing to see in Casper, do this one!
