“Beautiful garden spot right near the center of a historic town!”
Reviewed July 3, 2013

On our trip from Saint Louis to Yellowstone, the Mountainview Motel was one of the high points of our trip. This is not a chain motel with people living on the other side of the wall. The Mountainview is an old style 100 year old group of 14 cabins, situated in a park-like setting. The inside of the cabins have ancient polished log walls but with modern flat-screen TV's, new microwaves, refrigerators, ect.. Due to the log construction the cabins are super quiet. My wife was quite impressed with their high standards of cleanliness. We enjoyed the cabin's so much we spent an extra two days, just living there and exploring all the wonderful things that Buffalo has to offer. We plan to spend another day or two on our way back. The service was very helpful and personable. The kids actually had space to roam around and check out the wildlife. What a place to stay at less than the price of a motel 6!

Room Tip: Ask for non-smoking or non-pet rooms and they should accommodate. Don't miss out on free coffee...

We stayed one night in August 2012 on our way back to the Midwest from Yellowstone. The owner bent over backwards helping me try to connect to his wi-fi (unsuccessfully, I have a finicky laptop), sold me an SD card for our full-up video camera, and gave good supper recommendations. The courtyard was lush and shady and there was coffee out there in the morning. Cabin #1 was cozy and clean with a comfy bed and energetic air conditioner. We'd stay there again.

This motel is run by an extremely friendly pair. Cabins are beautiful, pets and smokers are welcomed. The value is also excellent, prices rise in summer like all other lodging, but these are very fair.

I cannot even begin to explain the pride they seem to take in making guests feel welcomed. It's fantastic.

The "rooms" are actually small cabins. They have a rustic look and feel, but are nice. We had a comfortable stay. There is a nice picnic area on the grounds. The only thing that might be a problem for some is that the bathroom in our cabin was very small and cramped; for someone who has a disability, I'm not sure they would be able to use the bathroom.

I read the reviews of this hotel and decided to make a reservation in one of their cabins for a one night stay. I informed the desk clerk we would be arriving late (10pm) and asked specifically if someone would be available to check us in. We were instructed to ring the door bell when we got there. Unfortunately when we arrived no one answered the doorbell and we were forced to go elsewhere. We cruised the property and were very disappointed by the location in general. I would avoid this place like the plague. It's rundown and it appears they have many full time residents in the cabins.

My buddy and I pulled in after dark in September on a long road trip. It was the first place we saw. The people were friendly. The rooms--separate buildings per room--were clean and comfortable. They advised us of a great place to eat downtown. Couldn't be happier. A good price, too....Ron Jensen, Bethesda, MD

After my retirement 3 years ago, we travelled throughout the great western states of the U.S. Imagine our surprise when we ventured upon the Mountain View cabins. Cute, clean and cozy. Loved them so much, we went back again this year. Ownership had changed, but they were just as we remembered. Everything you could want in a little cabin. Near to our hearts and easy on the pocket book! Stay here.
