“Great place to stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 20, 2011

We stayed here in cabins 1 and 2 on August 24-25. Loved the classic 1920s motor court style. The owners are very friendly and make you feel at home. They put coffee out in the courtyard in the morning, weather permitting. Definitely consider a stay here if you are in the area and like some charm.

This little log cabin motel and campground offers affordable lodging 2 blocks from the historical downtown Buffalo Wyoming.

I chose the location because if it's proximity to the mountains, on hwy 16 west and was delighted to find that in my 2 week stay, became part if the motel family!

The Mountain View is Buffalos oldest working motel and the beautifully sculpted center courtyard is a fine example if it. A common green area, shaded by massive ancient trees offers a place for meeting and discussion with other travellers outside the cabins or tents. A gas BBQ is available for use, or if you prefer, a hibachi (for those who like to cook over wood or charcoal). Every night, two fires are lit and travellers enjoy conversation by firelight.

Showers are clean and spacious and laundry is available.

I tented here for two weeks and had no problems leaving my items unattended while away all day long.

The hosts, Charles and Melissa are friendly and willing to help with any of your needs

All your shopping needs are within a 2 block radius and the historical Occidental Hotel is only 3 blocks away.

While I'm not a biker, it's a biker friendly motel. Pets are welcome and a tipi youth hostel is in the works

Cabins are either 1 bed, 2 bed, 3 bed, 4 bed sleeping 1 person through entire families.

Come stay at the Mountain View. You'll be glad you did

We three stayed in one of the Mountain View cabins. The cabin was clean and inviting. It was so quaint, but with every amenity one could ask for: a/c, fridge, cable tv, free wi-fi... even a screen door. The owners were friendly, helpful and eager to share their knowledege of area attractions and recreation. We took their advice and opted for the scenic route back home and were glad we did. I would definitely stay here again and gladly recommend the facility to our friends.

we were pleasantly surprised by this little gem. the rooms are cozy and welcoming. they are a bit small but the ambience makes up for it. the cabins are log on the inside and just adorable.
there is a court yard for people to enjoy. pick up a dinner and enjoy it at the fire.
there was coffee in the morning at one of the tables and it just has a laid back and vacation feel.
the owner's were especially warm and friendly people who obviously care about their property and their guests experience. i would definitely stay there again.

We stayed here for a week while we explored the Bighorn Mountains and truly enjoyed it. The cabins were clean and comfortable. Our hosts were friendly and helpful. The Mountainview has a beautiful courtyard with a picnic area and a barbeque grill. In the evenings, there are several chimineas for guests to enjoy. We would come back here in a heartbeat and hope to return.

The lady and I stayed at the Mountain view a couple months after the ownership change. We stayed a few years ago, and the few issues we experienced there have been fixed. Although the old owners were nice people, the new owners, a newlywed couple starting their first business, are most eager to please. The rooms are also redecorated and the cleanliness is spot-on. We simply find this place, with its trees, safety (next to police station), and excellent rates to be the best deal in town.
