Description: Originally constructed in 1850, the Delton Academy was a one room Baptist Boys Schoolhouse. In 1865, it became the Delton Methodist Church. In 1894, the church was expanded and the entryway and side room additions were built. What was originally the entrance was replaced with the G.A.R. stained glass window and the bell tower was added. During this period it was also used as the G.A.R. Hall. The Grand Army of the Republic was the Civil War version of the V.F.W. for the Union army. In 1868, General Order #11 of the G.A.R. called for May 30th to be designated as the day of memorial for Union veterans; originally called "Decoration Day", it later evolved into the U.S. national Memorial Day holiday. The G.A.R. was also active in pension legislation, establishing retirement homes for soldiers, and many other areas which concerned Union veterans. The influence of the G.A.R. led to the creation of the Old Soldiers' Homes of the late 19th century, which evolved into the current United States Department of Veterans Affairs. The back room, bathroom and kitchen addition was added sometime in the 1950's. In the 1970's, the building was then purchased by a group of local residents and it became the Old Delton Academy Antique Mall. In the spring of 2007, the building underwent a revamping and became what it is today; the oldest public building in southwest Wisconsin and home of the Brat House Grill. The building still retains it's original wood floor, wainscoting and window frames. It's remarkable what great shape the building is in after it's extensive and varied history.

The brat burgers we ordered were very good and loved the homemade chips. We did order fries for one of the meals for a extra charge of $2.29. Only negative didn't receive many fries for the price, very sparse compared to the homemade chips. The waiter was very good and liked the atmosphere of the Brat House. We will be coming back.

My son said it was the best brat he ever had! They have a beer cheese brat soup that is GREAT! I had the best chicken salad sandwich that I have ever had! The homemade potatoe chips are good too. We loved the mac n cheese too - very cheessssy.

Food was great, especially the brat burger. Tons of beers to choose from as well. We got the vibe it's more of a locals place, but that made it even better. We sat at the bar and all the staff was very friendly. Would try it out for a casual meal.

This is a cute place. Used to be a church a long time ago. Had many renovations since then. The back of the menu explains the history. The place wasn't terribly busy but there seemed to be only one waitress for the back room and she was running around crazy. She was very nice. The service and food took quite a while but maybe that's because there wasn't enough help. The food was good. My son was disappointed because he ordered the grilled cheese on Texas toast and it didn't look like that when it came. The bread was like a multi-grain type which he didn't like and didn't expect. The beer cheese soup was great and our other food was great also. There is a tv and dart board and old arcade game back there. In the other room is the bar area with tables. Just as we were leaving there was some kind of band that was setting up.
Worth going to if you're not in a hurry.

We all had really good meals! I didn't get what I ordered, but it was still good! The bartender was more attentive than our waitress. The homemade chips were really good!
