Glacier Canyon Lodge
Ranked #16 of 74 Hotels in Wisconsin Dells
Reviewed July 22, 2013

If you're considering staying here, and you should, here's what you need to know:

- Check on eBay for reputable Wyndham timeshare brokers. The room cost includes lodge water park passes and we saved a lot of money by having drinks, lunches and some dinners in our room.

- The rooms are very nice and spacious. Ours had : full kitchen, fridge, dishes & dishwasher, washing machine and dryer, linens, multiple TVs, blu-ray player, fireplace, porch. This is not a hotel so there is no daily maid service, but there are some room supplies available as well as maintenance if needed.

- The hotel and park grounds are pretty large. Be prepared to do a lot of walking to get to your destination.

- You can get a lot of discounts to offsite activities (i.e. Rick Wilcox, Duck Boats, Circus World) right in the lobby concierge desk. Original Ducks tours pick you up in the lobby. When we needed a break from the water parks, it was an easy drive to the downtown Dells area, Baraboo and other locations.

- The front desk has a free movie lending library.

- It might be difficult to find a place for your stuff when you get to the water parks. Just bring stuff you really need (towels, shoes, room key) so you can drop them anywhere. Walking around barefoot and wet inside the hotel pathways is common. Things that can be purchased in the park can be charged to your room using your room key.

- The water parks are pretty good, rides geared more towards 5 to 14 year olds, so depending on your tastes or needs, you may need to go off site to another park. Our kids loved the parks in the lodge so we saved money by just going to those, but if you're a thrill seeker (i.e. Noah's Ark or Mt Olympus), you'll have to pay extra for admission to other sites.

Overall, it was a great place and we'd definitely return again.

Room Tip: Dial in the A/C on the low side, the bedrooms got a little warm at night.

This was our 3rd year in a row at GCL. Everything about it was just absolutely fantastic! The staff are always there to help, the rooms are very nice and clean, all of the facilities i.e. water parks, go carts, ropes course, arcade and food services are just top notch! I can't say enough of how great this place is! We can't wait to be back again next year!

The kids never got bored, there was so much to do and so many new experiences. The boys brought their laptops, but there was no need for them. They had so much fun without their video games! I used a laptop to google some info and I had no trouble getting on the Internet from our room. I can't say enough. We had a perfect time!

This was my family's third stay at the Glacier Canyon and I've always enjoyed each visit. We always stay in the 2 bedroom deluxe, but with three kids, the price is right at $300 per night. The room is great and very spacious with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. There is also a pull down bed if you need extra room. The kitchen area is nice with a full size fridge, microwave, dishwasher and coffee maker. The cabinets are stocked with plates and glassware. We've always brought our own food for breakfast and then usually have leftovers from dinner. This is cheaper than grabbing lunch at one of the many food places in the resort.

The pools are great. We stayed three days which allows you to spend plenty of time at each pool area. My kids (5, 10, 11) always have a great time as there is plenty to do for all age groups. The inside attractions such as laser tag, mini golf and arcades leave plenty to do after the pools close.

Get ready for lots of walking as this is a large resort. Also be prepared for a lot of people. The lazy river was often jam packed in the afternoon and if want any chance of getting a pool chair, I suggest getting to that pool when it opens.

We didn't have much interaction with the staff other than the kids working at the food places. It seemed like many of them were foreigners as they had accents and were difficult to understand at times. The lifeguards were friendly enough and most of the ones I talked to were helpful.

If I had a complaint it would have to be with the bath towels in the rooms. They might work for drying off a 8 year old, but they were badly inadequate for an adult. At $300 per night you would think the towel quality would be better. Also, we had to call for extra towels every night as they only give you about 4 towels which isn't enough.

Overall, a great stay and I highly recommend this resort.

Rooms were spacious and clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Like that you can charge things to the room and not have to worry about carrying my wallet. A little pricey. Water parks are awesome!

We had a great time! We stayed here for one night. My daughter wanted a "big water park". We stayed on a very busy dells weekekd almost all the rooms in town were sold out and I think by the end of the evening this resort may have been as well. I was very worried about how busy the rides would be and how long the kids would have to wait in line with how busy the weekend was. No lines! The kids only had to wait 15 min for a ride twice and that is nothing. Other than that it was a few people in front and your turn. With 8 water parks total 4 indoor 4 outdoor there was somthing for everyone. We loved the wave pool (they do count that as one of the indoor parks) but it had good waves and was alot of fun. 3 of the parks were connected. The other ones were spread out on the property. The kids and I found the free shuttle ride or short walk a nice little break to regroup between parks. The room was clean and had a balcaony. Altough we didn't spend much time in there. Our waterpark passes were incuded in our room and altough our room wasn't ready until 4pm on the day we arrived we were able to register at 11am get our waterpark passes which were good till closing the day of checkout. When we registered they showed us the best place to park, gave us our room keys and let us know they would call or text with our room # when ready. This made it very nice no need to go back to the lobby for room keys ect. We just already had the keys and knew where to park just needed our room #. More time to enjoy and play. Our family had a great time.

ok so me and my boyfriend have seen and read that this hotel has gotton a couple bad reviews but trust me this hotel is not at all bad in anyway. glacier canyon lodge is the better way to go rather than staying at any of the other wilderness hotels. anyway me and my boyfriend which we are both 19 so yes we are able to book a hotel room. anyway we had a room with 1 king sized bed and a jacuzzi. our room was on the top floor which was a good thing because it was easy to sleep at night.

the lobby
when we first got to the hotel we found a parking spot right by the lobby door. we grabbed a luggage cart and packed up the cart but we needed two because we stayed fromm june 15th till july 11th 2013. there were alot of luggage carts it was almost like there were 2 carts for every room. when we walked into the lobby we had to wait about 10 mins in line which was ok because after 5 mins the line got really long. when i checked us in they gave us 4 room keys when there was only two of us. then they said we give every individual 2 room keys because incase they loose one which we lost one so it was good.

our room
we were scared to walk in our room becuase when we stayed at the wilderness when we walked in the room was dirty. when we opened the door we instantly felt like we were at home. the was so clean and the way it was decorated was pretty cool. the room had 4 mirrors which were 2 bye the jacuzzi 1 huge one above the sink and one medium sized one in the bathroom.all the mirrors were spotless and clean which was awsome. we got in the room at 3:00 cause our room was already ready when we got there. when we jumped on the bed we sank in the matress so im basically saying that the bed was extremely comfortable. there were 4 pillows on the bed which were 2 memory foam and 2 regular pillows. the comforter on the bed was really soft and perfect for us. when we got situated it was about 4:05. we decided to get something to eat. we got back at the room at 7:00 cause we went shopping. when we got back to the room our bed was straightened out because befor we left the room we messed up the bed. then there was a note on the mirror saying that someone came in and cleaned it which was nice of them to leave a note. the bathroom in the room was extremely clean and smelled like lemons. the soap in the shower had a really nice smell to it. there were plenty of towels in the bathroom and by the sink. the tv in the room was like a 42 inch tv which i guess are in every room. at about 7:30 we went to the pool.

the indoor pool/waterpark
the indoor water park was really clean and huge considering we only went to the wild water dome which is there huge as hell indoor wave pool. the wave pool was really clean and the water was crystal clear. even at night the water parks were crowded. they had a small snack bar that sold stuff like ice cream and hot dogs and water and soda. they had about 10 life guards just watching everyone in the wave pool which if you travel with kids u know that your kids will be safe. while we stayed here we went to all the indoor and outdoor water parks. there is a total o 8 outdoor and 8 indoor waterparks so there are 16 water parks total. all of the indoor waterparks had alot of places to sit so no matter what you had a table with at least 6 chairs. there were lockers to put your stuff in which u just use your room key to use on there is no money charge.

the outdoor water parks
there are 8 outdoor water parks total. there are alot of places to sit which is good. they had over 50 waterslides which were huge and really fun especially the one that goes upside down. they had alot of places for younger kids to play in the water too. they didnt have snack bars outside which was ok cause we didnt get hungry. we loved everything about the waterparks.

the service. we got back to our room at around 10:30. when we walked in we got into pajamas and we pulled back the comforters on the bed and the sheets were extremely white with no stains or any left over hair on them. the air conditioner in the room wasnt working at all so my boyfriend called the front desk and asked for someone to come and look at it. 5 mins later there was a knock on the door and it was an engineer and we told him that the air wouldnt turn on or anything. then he looked at it and said its not working or going to work because its not plugged in. so he plugged it in and said have a good night and then he left. not even five mins and the room was ice cold. it was relaxing.

the staff
the staff and employees were really helpful and friendly. every morning someone from the front desk called our room and asked if we wanted breakfast or not. once a day besides the breakfast call someone called the room and said this is required to ask but does your room need a cleaning.

our overall expierience with this hotel was amazing and we will be returning to wisconsin dells evey summer but we will be staying at mt olympus water and theme park. no offence but this hotel wasnt as couple like as mount olympus is soory. but dont listen to this part if ur traveling with family this is if your traveling with couples. hope this review helps you make a good desicion and if you have any questions please feel free to ask me i love answering questions for people.

Room Tip: if you have a family traveling of like 20 people stay at wilderness on the lake cause it the perfect...
